1. Going outside and not needing to take a shower within five minutes.

There’s summertime heat, and then there’s summertime heat in New York, which always feels ten degrees hotter and more humid than the actual temperature because it’s being absorbed by the entire city. And while I adore heat in general, I’d be lying if I said the prospect of slightly cooler weather doesn’t thrill me.

2. The return of hot drinks!

Hot chocolate, hot tea, hot coffee…they’re comforting and just plain necessary by October. Last night my apartment was quite chilly, so I heated up some almond milk with peanut butter and maple syrup. Amazingness.

3. Sweatshirts.

Though frumpy and shapeless, they’re still one of my favorite types of clothing. I’m wearing one now, actually…

4. Going home to Pennsylvania and seeing how pretty everything is

Fall always seems to bring the most beautiful days of the whole year, and I’m hoping I get a chance to go home and enjoy them in a place where there are pretty trees and open spaces!

5. The day after Halloween, when I can start playing Christmas carols and baking holiday treats.

Yes, I’m that girl. Go ahead and judge me, I’ll be too merry and sugared up to care.

6. Foodbuzz in San Francisco!

Last year’s conference was hands-down my favorite blogging conference yet. I can’t wait to reunite with friends and eat my way through the weekend.

7. My class’ Friday Night Dinner.

Each Chef’s Training Program is divided into two groups, which then designs a menu and puts own a Friday Night Dinner like the ones I’ve helped out at recently. It’s a daunting task, but I’m excited for it!

8. Thanksgiving.

Need I say more?

9. Finishing school and finally entering the “real” world.

I think the timing of this NGI program was perfect for me, because it gave me a little buffer between college and job-searching. While a few months ago I was petrified of what was coming next, now I’m getting excited about it. We’ll see how long that lasts in today’s job market…

And one thing I’m in denial of…

1. The cold.

Can we just pretend that the Northeast never gets chillier than 50 degrees?

What are you looking forward to about this fall?
