You know how it’s supposed to take longer to undo a habit than to learn it? Well, I’m finding that to be quite the opposite of what’s happened to me when it comes to taking pictures of what I eat. Even after 1.5 years of photographing most of my meals, I can’t seem to remember to snap the snacks and chocolate one day a week.
Still, I got breakfast, lunch, and dinner…so here goes What I Ate Wednesday.
Breakfast:
Protein oats a la Janetha- 1/2 cup rolled oats, 3/4 cup soy milk, 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder, sliced banana, spoonful of peanut butter stirred in
I’m not as big of an oatmeal lover as 90% of the blogworld is, but I still love a bowl every once in awhile, especially as the seasons change. This batch was steaming up my camera like whoa.
Lunch:
I found a packet of Trader Joe’s spiced soybeans in my pantry and decided to incorporate them into my lunch. I ate the whole package with carrot sticks and a Damascus Bakeries flax roll-up wrap, as well as a grapefruit. (The apple I was too full for, so I had it after dinner with some peanut butter instead.)
The spiced soybeans were actually great- just a smidge of spicy heat, edible when cold and very filling.
Dinner:
Salad beast with romaine, cucumber, tomatoes, a can of chunk tuna and Trader Joe’s tomato basil hummus, along with an Arnold whole-wheat sandwich thin. I stockpiled the thins months ago when I had a bunch of coupons, so I figured it’s time to start making a dent in the freezer pile.
Not pictured:
- Tastes of my apple galette during the test, and a small slice of it after the chef had graded it
- A sliver of cranberry-pear pie leftover from Tuesday’s class
- Lindt Touch of Sea Salt dark chocolate after dinner
- Aforementioned apple with peanut butter
- Almonds and dried raisins before bed
Love the look of brekkie! One of the best things I ate this week was the pear & walnut slice of cake I had this afternoon….so delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
hahah but its good to have a “dull” day sometimes!!
yesterday I had two awesome things. 1) the PB&J frozen yogurt at Pinkberry. have you had it yet? OMG so good!! and 2) the WHole Foods Roasted Veggie Pot Pie. a staple in my fridge, bc I cant get enough of it. soooo amazing!!
Ohhh the pot pie sounds really good!
I’ve had a pretty dull week so far when it comes to my meals. I did have frozen yogurt on Tuesday night, which was the best thing I’ve eaten so far this week (no surprise there). I’m with you on the oatmeal - not a huge fan, but I like it every once in a while.
I have a feeling I would easily get used to not taking regular pictures too. Heck, I can’t keep up with it now. LOL
Ya know, I’m trying to get back into my food picture taking and I’m failing miserably. Haha. We’ll find the groove again!
And favorite food of the week? The tortilla crust pizza I made for Whit and I last night!
It’s kinda nice not to though, don’t you think? I worry so much less about what I’m eating…
The best thing I ate this week were the Oatmeal Craisin Cookies I made. I hadn’t made them since June and they were chewy, warm and just melt in your mouth perfection.
Reading this made me crave an oatmeal cookie
I did the exact sam ething for my WIAW - took pictures of all the main savory stuff, but missed all the sweet treats & snacks! Oh well. I’ve really been enjoying all kinds of squash lately. Like for every other meal.
i usually forget to snap the sweet stuff, too! i think because i’m so eager to eat them that i only remember the photo afterwards, and by then it’s too late. the best thing i ate was this crazy peanut butter french toast i had at a famous restaurant here yesterday. it was out of control! and so, so delicious.
I rarely take pictures of my sweet snacks! They are usually a “oh I’ll just grab a bite of this and that” and there is no sense in taking all of those pictures!
The oatmeal looks delicious! The best thing I ate yesterday was a couple spoonfuls of chocolate peanut butter at work! I also always forget to take pictures of the couple chocolate chips I grab, or the peanut butter fingers I consume, both of those are sweet items as well!
best thing you ate yesterday, or this week in general = the pumpkin peanut butter oatmeal bars I blogged about on Sunday. Easy and great.
And thanks for the review of those TJs beans.
Yummy eats! I love oatmeal for breakfast..its one of my go-to meals
The best thing I ate yesterday was banana soft serve. But the best part was the chocolate on top.
I rarely snap pictures of my snacks either because most of the time I just want to gobble then down instead of fussing with the camera!
While i do have a soft spot for soy gelato after my summer spent in Rome mango sorbet is pretty amazing
