How long have you been blogging?
I started blogging at this address in October 2009, but took a hiatus soon after. I haven’t stopped since resuming in January 2010.

Why did you start a blog? I discovered food blogs via The Fitnessista in late spring 2009. After unearthing more and more blogs, I started my own on a whim. I never imagined it would become such a huge part of my life, but I love it and it’s opened a ton of doors for me.

How much time do you spend blogging per day? I probably spend about one hour creating the actual posts, but there’s a lot more behind-the-scenes work that takes up time too, like responding to comments and emails, reading other blogs, etc. The amount of time I spend is really influenced by how much time I can spend- Une Vie Saine is first and foremost a hobby, so my posting schedule and content changes with the rest of my life.

What made you decide to go to culinary school? Though I liked my French major and I love to write, I wanted to try something different while I was still young and had the time. I discovered that while I’m really “into” food and cooking, it’s not something I want to pursue full-time. It was a great experience though!

What kind of camera do you use? How did you learn about photography? I have a Canon Rebel T1i. For more casual pictures, I use my iPhone. As for the photography- I’m still learning! It’s been a slow process, but I’m constantly working on improving the quality of my pictures.

How many calories do you eat per day? How do you figure out what to eat for each meal? Do you base it off calories, macros, food groups, etc?
I don’t count calories, but I’m maintaining my weight at a fairly high activity level, so it’s probably upwards of 2,000 a day. I don’t think food should ever cause guilt, so I try to balance out my frosting, chocolate and beer obsessions with lots of fruits, veggies and other “clean” foods.

What’s your height and weight? I’m 5’7″ and prefer not to share my specific weight. My BMI is well within the “healthy” range and my body is functioning as it should.

I need to gain/lose weight. Do you have any meal plans I can follow? Sorry- I’m not a doctor or RD and therefore can’t help you with that. A lot of my meal ideas and recipes can probably be incorporated into a weight loss/gain/management program, but the specifics are best left to a professional.

How do you manage to get to the gym so often, and so early? Do you have any tips to motivate yourself? It’s a habit for me, but one that’s taken a long time to acquire! I wrote a post about my tips and tricks here.

I’m coming to New York City- do you have any suggestions for things to do? Yep- check out this post for my recommendations.
