The cardinal rule of dinner party cooking is that you’re never supposed to use a new-to-you recipe. So, since I’m throwing a dinner party for some friends in a few weeks, I saw that as an opportunity to bake a cake- never mind the fact that I’ve actually already made it before. I used this [...]

Apparently it’s slacker week on Une Vie Saine. All of the “recipes” I’ve posted have been basically childproof. Infused vinegar? Melted chocolate and graham crackers? And now, rice? Pay attention, though. Though this rice is ridiculously simple to make, it’s by far my favorite way to eat the stuff. You see, I don’t really care [...]

Yuengling + fig & goat cheese pizza (At Uno’s, of all places. Who knew?) + fries + a giant peanut butter cup sundae*, all shared with one of my best and oldest friends. It’s the best Valentine’s date I’ve ever had. Romance is overrated. *Cookie crust bottom, peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough filling, dark chocolate [...]

I feel like I’m finally getting the hand of dressing nicely every day. I went from having my mom dress me every day in elementary school, to wearing a uniform every day in middle and high school, to wearing jeans or yoga pants and sweatshirts every day in college, to actually having to look polished [...]

In case you didn’t already know, it’s Valentine’s Day! I’m really not a huge fan of this holiday. It’s a nice idea, but in execution I think it’s kind of silly. I’m not single and bitter about it, either; even when I’ve had a boyfriend, all the hoopla just kind of sets you up for disappointment. [...]

Everyone knows that there’s something about restaurant salads that are just better. I’m not sure what it is, but no matter how healthy the menu description makes something out to be, the deliciousness of a fancy purchased salad makes me suspicious. Do they butter the lettuce? Inject the tomatoes with sugar? (Well, depending on the [...]

i've never even had rice pudding! I loved Gushers and Fruit Roll Ups. Also – Handi-Snacks and Dunkaroos!
Literally, love your blog. Love your eats. Love your life in NYC… and jealous of all as well!Keep it up!
Dunkaroos, Fruit by the Foot, and Lunchables. Definitely Lunchables.
Dunkaroos, Fruit by the Foot, and Lunchables. Definitely Lunchables.
I'm also a huge fan of rice pudding. That sounds like a wonderful way to start the day!And I totally want your sweater. Grey, cozy, and really cute – those are basically my wardrobe criteria at the moment.
I LOVE THAT SWEATER! fabulous and so comfy looking!
Love the rice pudding and your jumper!! I badly want it :/Doritos were pretty cool here too…
Totally forgot rice pudding even existed!! Now I'm kind of craving some. LOVE that sweater- so cute and fallish!
Gushers were worth their weight in gold in the trading scene. Sadly, my mother did not seem to understand why it was important I have "trendy" snacks
It's so funny how food was considered "cool" or "uncool" when we were kids! I remember loving tuna (blech) but would neeeever, ever admit that because everyone would always say stuff like "ew, i hate tuna!" haha. that and mustard…everyone banged on mustard and I was too shy to admit I liked it. Hmmm…your sweater is SO cute – I love cozy, warm sweaters and I just love the leather buckle that one has.
I went to a really small elementary school as a kid and I packed my lunch every day. I recall my friends eating those lunchables sometimes, but for me it was usually a pb sandwich and an apple (not much has changed!) Sometimes my mom would mix it up and pack chips and salsa!
Hohos, definitely. I used to eat a PB&J, goldfish crackers, and a cookie all the time for elementary school lunch.I hate when a trip to the laundromat results in altered clothing sizes! I've shrunk countless pairs of jeans. Sigh.
Love your new sweater!! sooo cute!!Do you remember Dunkaroooos!? Those were a BIG treat for me when I was younger…I liked the ones with vanilla frosting and sprinkles
Now a days Im not too sure how much of a treat they would be though haha

Yes – gushers! And dunk-a-roos, Fruit by the Foot and sour skittles. I'm sure I could think of a million more. Haha.
Haha I remember Gushers!I think Lunchables were super popular when I was little. I love rice pudding. Mmmm
Awesome breakfast, I need to try rice pudding again. When I was a kid, SmartFood popcorn, Cheetos, Squeeze-It's and Oreos were huge.

LOVE rice pudding!! I always thought it was gross as a kid – what was I thinking?! I guess I equated it with old people since my grandparents always ate it when we had brunch at the Jewish deli. LOL.Loving the sweater too…super cute!!
vegan breakfast rice pudding looks amazing!!!and just yesterday, i cooked up rice with coconut milk. Had i stopped there, i could have easily had rice pudding..next time, next time.Jeans and the dryer do not mix. Girl, never put anything you care about in the dryer. I know you think you dont have room and it's a bit of a PITA, but you need to take them home wet, hang them over a hanger and hang it up and just wait for 24 hrs for them to dry. No dryer! And cool foods…god I sure hope skylar and the next generation thinks it's cool to eat high raw vegan food and handisnacks and fruit rollups are a thing of the past

Cute outfit, especially the sweater.
Rice pudding is an Indian dish!-I think, we must have an Indian version! Your outfit today is uber cute!
I've actually never had rice pudding. I am totally trying your recipe for breakfast tomorrow
I have a sweater just like that! I loove your outfit
Don't you hate having to wash jeans because they ALWAYS shrink, no matter what you do!Oh yes, Doritos definitely topped the list. But what I remember most are Warheads!

Dunkaroos, Lunchables, and Fruit roll ups were all pretty popular. My lunches never fit in with those either.

you had me at pudding, hahaLove the sweater!~Michelle
dunkaroos & kaola bears were all the rage!
Although I loved gushers too. That breakfast rice pudding looks really good – I think I just may have to make that… except I'd have to make rice right now & don't want to. The next time I have leftover rice, I totally will!

Eugh, dryers at the laundromat…I know exactly what you're talking about. My lunches were never considered cool either, but I remember Dunkaroos and Lunchables as always being "hit" items…

TELL ME YOU'VE BEEN TO RICE TO RICHES. Google it. Go. Thank me.
I'm from Argentina so rice pudding WAS one of the cool foods! It's pretty big there. Usually anything with DULCE DE LECHE was and will always be cool! <3
