I started at my internship this week, which means that I really have a reason to look nice now- the dress code is business casual, so yoga pants and sweatshirts wouldn’t really fly. It’s actually fun to dress like an adult, not a college student. Here’s a few looks from the past week, including my birthday dress that several of you asked about!
Dress- Madewell; Pumps- r.s.v.p from Zappos; Necklace- Forever 21; Bangles- Kate Spade; Nails- Essie Tart Deco
Jeans- Seven for All Mankind; T0p- Abercrombie & Fitch; Jacket- J.Crew; Flats- Tory Burch
Skirt- Banana Republic; Shirt- J.Crew; Tights- HUE from Nordstrom; Flats- Tory Burch; Necklace- Kate Spade Outlet; Nails- Essie Sand Tropez
Dress- Lilly Pulitzer; Cardigan- Express; Tights- Target; Flats- Steve Madden from DSW
Outfits go from cute —> not so much. Still trying to get the hang of this dressing for work thing.
Also, this past month I’ve gotten really into nail polish for whatever reason. The stuff used to drive me nuts when it would chip, but I bought a bunch of colors with an Ulta gift card and have been changing it every few days, before it has time to look terrible. Because I know you all care so much about my nail care routine…
What’s your daily dress code, be it for work, school or anything else?
I’m a teacher (as if you did not know that?), so I have the same kind of outfits you rock except I never wear heels. ever ever EVERRRR. I think my feet would die if I wore heels all day with children.
Would you mind sharing where the mirror hanging over your bed is from? Looks beautiful!
I have no idea, it’s been there for as long as I can remember!! Sorry :/
I love your white chunky necklace!
its so nice to dress up, huh?
I wear business casual but I also have to wear chef whites to school if my working in the kithens.
I HATED whites. Gah.
Love your outfits! You always look so chic & like you stepped out of J. Crew… jealous!
I wear the regular teacher clothes…. and lots of cardigains because our school is super cold all of the time! …..Your outfits are *super* cute!
Getting to dress up was one of my favorite parts of my internships. Classes are so casual usually that it was nice to throw on a dress. Unfortunately it wasn’t fancy enough of a place for heels
Adorable outfits!! I love your use of necklaces!
Love your outfits Gabs! I’ve always been bad at pairing up jewelry, esp bangles! My friend got me several sets from India and I never know what to wear them with!
My wardrobe is…activity centered? I wear jeans or cargo pants with t-shirts and jackets…sometimes I wish I had a job that was business casual.
I love your outfits!
Since I work in a construction office, I usually just wear jeans and t-shirts. Sometimes I wish I had to dress nicer, but whenever I do, I feel out of the place.
My daily dress code usually includes some sort of pretty dress, with my boots, converse, or pretty fip flops. If I am really feeling laid back, jeans and a pretty white top!
That Madewell Bday dress is uber cute.
trying to dress business casual always drives me crazy! I always prefer to dress classically with a bit of an edge, like a button down with a leather jacket or a dark sweater and leopard scarf with a bit of my tattoos peeking out, but I always felt out of the place (but not inappropriate) because most people at my past work environments couldn’t give two hoots about style. I think that this really means is that I need to move to a city and work in a setting where people are totally fine with me being myself, subtle nose piercing and all.
I think you’re quickly turning into one of my fashion icons..
You look gorgeous, Gabriela! You are the poster child for young, professional, beauty, and timeless. One thing I have always appreciated about you is your classiness and timeless sense of style and grace. Your mama raised you right
Aw thank you Averie!! That actually means a lot to me
I love your style! The skirt + striped top is such a cute combination!
My daily dress code is all about comfort, since I just spend my days sitting in classroom! I can usually be found in a Lululemon sweater + leggings or a long cardigan + leggings + a scarf.
So cute! Hope the internship is going well.
I love dressing business casual. Although it is a kind of confusing term, because you never want to dress too “business” or too “casual.”
But I know what you mean about having fun wearing grownup clothes
so chic!! ps how’d you curl your hair like that, looks so awesome!
I did it with a straightener actually! There are tons of tutorials on YouTube.
I LOVE all of your outfits!!! I used to have to dress biz casual until I started a job where I wear a uniform every day. Although it was nice at first not to have to think about what to wear, I kind of miss it :-/
My internship is business casual too! I agree, I’ve been having fun choosing clothes to wear every day. I feel like a grown-up for the first time, since in college we all dressed VERY informally (Tshirts, Ugg boots, jeans, etc.). Can you wear jeans to work?!? Jealous.
Yupp! I’m trying not to wear them too often though…just on Fridays, so I don’t get sloppy!
I love that 3rd outfit! I emailed you a while back about moving to the Philly suburbs but didn’t hear back! If you’re ever bored we should get coffee or something!
Would you consider posting pics of your room at some point? I love the little we can see of it in your outfit pictures. I’m hoping to redecorate my room soon and I’m looking for some inspiration…
adorable outfits!! great blog, too.
