Feelin' Good

I was planning on going to a class at my gym this morning, but once I got there, I realized I was in way more of a cardio mood.

One of the reasons I generally prefer cardio to strength is that I can just zone out without worrying about my form or injuring myself! Instead, I hopped on an elliptical for 50 minutes of the pre-programmed "interval" workout- 2 minutes at incline 4, resistance 1, followed by 2 minutes at incline 10, resistance 8. While pedaling away, I cranked up the iPod and listened to a playlist of old-school feel-good songs.

Yes, there are definitely some mildly embarrassing songs on there. I embrace my love of Shania! (I was actually introduced to her music as a kid through my dad. She was one of his faves back in the day.)

After my workout, I headed straight to a meeting with a professor. I'd forgotten to bring a snack to the gym with me, so by the time I got home I was starvin' marvin!

I immediately made myself a snack plate of raw cauliflower, carrot sticks, a Damascus bakeries whole-wheat tortilla, a serving of Trader Joe's meatless meatballs and half a container of Tribe eggplant hummus.

I'll be home for a few weeks after school ends, so I'm trying to eat anything even remotely perishable. This used up a bunch of stuff.

There's something so satisfying about an entirely dippable lunch. Afterwards, I still had a little room for something sweet.

Vermont Bread Co. whole-wheat bread topped with creamy almond butter and a sprinkling of chocolate chips. Reminded me of the Nutella-peanut butter-chocolate chip-potato bread sandwiches I used to make for after school snacks (mom, I don't think you knew about that).

Working away on a paper this afternoon. At least this weekend should be fun!

What's the most embarrassing thing on your iPod? I have the soundtrack to the French film Les Choristes. Aka 12 year old boys singing choir music...and I actually listen to it. Can anyone top that?
