Don't answer that.
This evening, the lovely Gracie and I had a hot date at Tea & Sympathy, a cute English-style tea shop in the West Village.
Since I've been slightly obsessed with all things British since the Royal Wedding, I adored it.
To start, Gracie and I each ordered a pot of tea.
She got vanilla mint, while I chose the herbal orange pear. It was fruity and naturally sweet enough to enjoy without sugar.
For our meal, we both chose the lentil casserole- lentils, onions, carrots, celery, eggplant and parsnips. The menu called it "absolutely vegetarian, and absolutely delicious," and I'd have to agree!
On an unseasonably cold and dreary night, this was absolutely delicious. Thick and hearty, and the portion was generous, as well.
After dinner, we weren't quite ready to call it a night yet, so we headed to The Otheroom, a small, dimly lit and trendy bar in the West Village. I sipped on a Lagunitas IPA while we chatted for awhile.
Tina has raved about Lagunitas beers, and it certainly didn't disappoint :)
A bit later, the two of us headed our separate ways for home. I couldn't resist stopping into Amy's Bread for a little dessert.
Their display case was strangely sparse, so rather than spend $5 on a slice of cake or pastry I wasn't crazy about, I just got a chocolate hazelnut biscotti. It ended up being a good call- this bad boy was super dark and just what I wanted!
I also had an apple with smear of almond butter when I got home as a pre-bedtime snack.
Speaking of bedtime, it's almost mine. G'night!
What's your favorite tea flavor? I'm partial to plain of English Breakfast for the caffeinated stuff, but I also really love peppermint and lemon herbal varieties.
