Things I love about November:
- It’s no longer socially unacceptable to listen to Christmas music. It’s just overzealous.
- Midterms are over.
- Thanksgiving is just around the corner
Things I don’t love about November:
- It’s cold.
Indeed, it was a chilly 37* Fahrenheit this morning, which made my rest day so much better. Instead of heading out into the cold for a walk to the gym or a run, I enjoyed sitting in bed listening to Christmas carols. And to all of you who say I can’t listen to Christmas music for another few weeks- shush. It makes me happy J
Breakfast this morning was a bowl of Shredded Wheat with a chopped microwaved apple, all topped with cinnamon.
Remind me never to buy the humungo box of Shredded Wheat again, okay? I like cereal, but this box has lasted way too long.
After a morning of lounging, cleaning and school reading, I made myself a simple but tasty lunch.
A sandwich on sprouted-grain sourdough with tomato, a vegan Gardenburger and Trader Joe’s horseradish hummus.
Alongside the rest of the tomato and a few pickle slices.
For a little something sweet afterwards, I sliced up a banana, threw in a handful of cashews and sprinkled it all with some cocoa powder.
What a tasty combination! Bananas and cashews are both rather mild, so they were delicious topped with cocoa powder.

Two of my favorite blends posted about their monthly goals recently, which motivated me to write down a few things I’d like to work on this month. Hopefully writing them down will keep me accountable?
November Goals:
- Keep my apartment neater by putting clothes away as I wear them and doing my dishes right after eating.
- Finish all homework the night before class, so that mornings aren’t as stressful.
- Learn to use my camera better. I finally bought a DSLR book, so I have no excuse to keep using the manual settings!
- Drink more water- I was doing great with this until the weather cooled off!
- Finish my half marathon in 1:45 or less. This goal will definitely be a challenge, but it’s hard enough that if I do succeed I’ll be ecstatic, and if I don’t I won’t be crushed.
What’s your favorite thing about November?
Do you have any goals for the month?

My favorite thing about November is my birthday and Thanksgiving!
I have a busy month school wise, so my goal is to be super efficient and put my best into my papers and tests. It already feels like the home stretch to the end of the semester!
getting a DSLR book is DEFINITELY one of my goal's this month. my camera is too new for any books specifically on that model, but i need to pick up something! i also need to be better about getting it OUTSIDE and taking pretty pictures!:) good luck with your goals!
My favorite thing about November is Thanksgiving cooking - least favorite thing? Cold.
I love love LOVE November! and girl, it's only a matter of time until I break out the Christmas music. Quite suprised I haven't already...
And I'm so bad about the clothes thing. I try them on and then don't hang them back up and eventually half of my clothes are on my closet floor... NOT a good habit :)
Have a great week!
Lol...I did indeed bust out the Christmas music on my run this morning. I love it so!
I love Thanksgiving and the beginning of the holiday season. :)
Goals? I think my goals until after this baby are all simply to survive, complain as little as possible, and keep having balance with my food.
My goal is definitely to eat more meals at home. I have been eating out way too much.
my goal is to stay on top of homework and keep my room neater! :)

Hell yeah for Christmas carols! I've been singing them since September!
I love November! It's my birthday month!
I have a lot of goals but I'd rather keep 'em personal. I'm weirdly superstitious like that ; )
Thanksgiving of course!! Can't wait for that stuffing :)
I love Thanksgiving. And I'm assuming that since you're in NYC you don't have a car? Yeah, I've had to scrape the frost off my car for a few mornings now. Not cool.
Good luck with all your goals, girl!
Wow a >1.45 half marathon?! That'll be a great one to try and acheieve! Good luck with your goals! :)
Funny you should mention the Christmas music...guess who else broke out the Xmas albums this morning? :P Great minds think alike!
November used to be my least favorite month because it seemed so cold and interminably long but now that I live in LA I think I'm going to like November!
My goal for the month is to get more work... but that's my goal every month :)
I just tried the banana/cashews/cocoa powder combination and was really surprised! Definitely eating that again. My November goals are to just stay on top of everything as the semester winds down without neglecting other parts of my life (food, exercise, family, friends, etc) That might be easier said than done, haha...
Happy November indeed! I share your goal for drinking more water this month - it is a lot tougher now that it's chilly but I can so feel the difference.
minus the marathon related stuff, I have the same exact goals for this month. I need to hydrate, take care of the mess that is my room, stop using the automatic setting on my rebel, and finish my work more than an hour before it's due. at least we're not alone in dealing with these issues!
You can send your shredded wheat my way! ;) Those are some good lookin' goals. I actually am posting about why I love November in tonight's post. It is a great month. Oh, and I can't wait for this weekend, I am so excited to meet you!!

LOL
The horseradish hummus...sounds delish. I never buy anything from the TJs premade case b/c I can make it myself for 1/2 or 1/4th the price...but I may break down and get that one :)
Tomatoes. I eat one a day. Yours looks partic delish!
And goals...love yours. I didnt even know you had a dslr. Now I am the only person in the sphere who doesnt...
ugh I just need to get healthier in general. More veggies, less junk. More activity, less facebook haha
Great goals! My main goal is to keep up with my school work. I have really been slacking ;)
i've been suuuuch a water slacker too! i can feel it too that i'm drinking less. except i've been guzzling tea like it's my job!
i'm so excited for you to run your halfsies! i think another one of your nov goals should be meet meeeeee
Ditto about getting to listen to Christmas music now! I say it's never too early to get into the holiday spirit. I also love all the gingerbread flavoured lattes and treats!
My goals are to survive the rest of my midterms/papers and to bake more! Oh, and to spend less on groceries, but I know that's not going to happen. :P
Great goals! I love november for the cooler weather, the wrapping up of college football and the holidays - time to give thanks!
I do have a few goals - mostly to walk/run 103 miles, make a video and do abs much, much more!
It was a rest day for me over here, too! My walk to class this morning was rather chilly, I wasn't too happy!
Goals for november? BE HAPPY!
Dana xo
I changed my ringtone to "All I Want for Christmas is You" this morning :)
and boy am I glad that midterms are over!
I love Thanksgiving and the fun of getting ready for Christmas just around the corner!
I was actually at the parade and thought of you! It was a bit crazy, but a worthwhile experience. Today was cold! Winer has arrived in the city. I like winter, but not in the city. I like it better in Michigan and Canada, where it seems more clean and is easier to get out and play/ski/skate/build snowmen.
My favorite thing about November is my birthday and the marathon and Thanksgiving pie and the first snowfalls. Okay so that's a lot of favorites. :)
Hope your week is off to a splendid start!
Great goals!!
I need to do better with drinking water during the cold months, just for some reason coffee attracts me more haha
