Baby Talk

Late this morning, my mom, sister-in-law Cammy and I all headed to my cousin Wendy's baby shower, held at one of her family friends' houses. I'm the youngest of all the grandkids on my dad's side, so it's been neat to go to lots of showers and weddings over the years!

Our hostess had the food catered, so there was a spread of nuts, cheese, fruit, crackers and tomato bruschetta to nibble on when we arrived. I helped myself to some of the bruschetta, as well as a few nuts.

For lunch, there was a spread of sandwiches and salad: roast beef wraps, salmon salad on wheat bread, and chicken waldorf salad on croissants. I took a salmon salad, another piece of tomato bruschetta and some mesclun salad with candied pecans and topped with fig balsamic vinaigrette.

I'm not usually one for mayo-based salads (if you can taste the mayo, it grosses me out), but the sandwich was actually delicious.

After eating, we got to the fun part: opening gifts!

Wendy got a ton of adorable stuff, including a children's book from each guest. Events like this always kind of make me want to have a baby to dress in duckie robes...and then I remember that I'm 21 and get grossed out by blowing my own nose, let alone someone else's. There's plenty of time ;)

My other cousin Kate is actually pregnant too, and they're due within a week of each other. How neat is that?!

For dessert, there was a chocolate mousse bar: bowls of white and dark chocolate mousses with whipped cream, raspberries and chocolate and raspberry sauces for topping.

Obviously, I was in heaven. I filled a bowl with a spoonful of each of the mousses, as well as some whipped cream and a few raspberries. The mousses were full of chocolate chunks, which was amazing!

Before leaving, we got a photo of all the women in the family: my cousins, sister-in-law, grandmother and aunt.

Bonus points to anyone who correctly guesses who I'm biologically related to :)

Now, I think I'll spend my afternoon catching up with the Real Housewives of New Jersey. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend so far!

Have you ever been to a baby/bridal shower? Did you ever play any ridiculous games? I'd only been to bridal showers before today, but I must say that in the few I've been to we've never played games!
