My parents just surprised me with my Easter slash graduation gift: a framed photo of the Titanic from the New York Times, signed by Millvina Dean (the last living survivor, who died in 2009) and accompanied by a tiny chunk of authentic Titanic coal salvaged from the ocean floor.
Naturally, I freaked out a little. Not many gifts are better than chocolate, but this is definitely one of them!!

Earlier this morning, my family and I headed to church. My Pop-Pop sang in the choir!
Lookin' good, Big J! |
The church was surprisingly uncrowded, and the service was good. The older I get, the more I appreciate holiday traditions. It's comforting to know that no matter where I am in life, I can come home on Thanksgiving and Christmas and Easter and the Fourth of July (my brother's birthday) and be reminded of my childhood. It's made me realize how important it is to me to establish strong family traditions with my own kids one day.

Afterwards, we headed home, where I made myself a light lunch. Despite a snack before church, I was still hungry! Easter "dinner" will be served at 4 PM, so I didn't want to get too full.
I'm not sure what the food options will be like at my aunt's, so I filled up on the same big veggie salad as yesterday, with romaine, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, a crumbled Dr. Praeger's California burger and Tribe garlic hummus. I also made myself a small portion of protein "cookie dough" with 1/2 c rolled oats and a scoop of chocolate rice protein.
Now we're just hanging out for a bit before heading to the family party later. I'm loving all of this beautiful sunshine- off to soak up some rays!
Hope you're having a wonderful day!
What's the best gift you've ever received? This Titanic print is pretty high up on the list for me!
