I slept in later than usual this morning, and enjoyed a leisurely cereal bowl when I woke up: Grain Berry O's, raw oats and wheat germ with a banana, cinnamon and almond milk.
Not much later, my friend Jillian texted me asking if I'd like to meet her for brunch at Quantum Leap. It was the perfect motivation to get out of my pajamas and face the day! Since I'd already eaten a breakfasty meal, I went the savory route and ordered the Asian Soba Salad.
Chilled Japanese soba tossed with Asian veggies, with green seaweed, hiziki, marinated tofu, green & red cabbages in our wasabishoyu sauce. Love this salad- so healthy-tasting, in a really good way!
Jillian ordered the strawberry pancakes. I tried a bite, and loved how fluffy they were. Full of strawberry slices, too!
I always wish that restaurants would serve breakfast foods for dinner, too. For some reason I crave things like pancakes and waffles far more in the evening than midday.
After brunch, I was planning on going to yoga at my gym, but once I got there I realized that I'd misread the schedule and missed the class. Instead, I opted for half an hour of easy ellipticizing, followed by a round of my magazine strength circuit. I'm determined to make it to yoga tomorrow, though!
Currently, I'm eating a post-workout snack of an apple with protein "frosting," as seen on Katie's blog: just a scoop of vanilla Sun Warrior, mixed with almond milk, maple syrup and cinnamon.
I was a bit wary of eating the protein powder straight-up, but it was surprisingly delicious.
Time to carpe diem before the rest of this day gets away from me!
When you go to brunch, do you tend to order sweet or savory dishes?
