I spent just hanging out with a small group of people at a friend's house. Probably my favorite way to ring in the new year, anyway!
We cut into a dark chocolate raspberry cake I made at midnight
(new recipe I need to tweak)
Toasted 2011 with champagne at midnight
And tortured little Taylor with squeals and cuddles
I wanted to dognap her.
Despite a late bedtime, I was up and at 'em at 7, ready to start the year with my regular routine. I had a bowl of blueberry oats for breakfast:
- 1/2 c oats
- 1 c almond milk
- sliced banana
- lots of blueberries
- vanilla extract
- stevia
Time to start the first day of the new year! Hope it's a good one for all of you :)
How did you spend your new year's eve? At a blowout bash, or with just a few friends or family?

Happy New Year girl! Looks like you had a great night!
We had plans to hang out with a small group of friends, but then being sick got in the way for me. I almost felt good enough to go out, but knew I would regret it this morning if I had done anything. It turned out best because I'm feeling much better! My first year without seeing the ball drop though!
I went out to dinner, forgot my ID so I couldn't order a drink, came back and fell asleep at 9 and rang in the New Year with a cup of detox tea and watching the ball drop on TV. Super lame. :(
I spent my New Years at home. LOL.
Waking up for 5 to work kind of ruined my night :(
The bar that we went to was actually not as packed as we thought it would be - which was nice, cause we didnt get over carried away! Champagne at midnight, etc...good times!
I had a small get together with my fam and friends- i actually had a little flu, so I couldn't even stay up-- i KNOW LAME... but I feel so much better than I got some rest and now I am better than ever for 2011!
Wow, your cake looked beautiful!
I made focaccia pizza and drank champagne with mom and dad. I fell asleep at 9:30! Haha. I loved my new years eve.
I get back to school jan. 24th!
Gabriela, we need to have a dessert party. Your cakes always look to die for!
I worked last night... it actually flew by pretty fast because we were busy!

I celebrated a lamesauce New Years Eve by going to bed at 10. It was just my parents and my sister anyways. Neither of my parents stayed up, but I don't know about my sister.
I was curled up at home on my New Years - I'm so cool :p
Happy new year girl!

I just had a low key night with a few friends and champagne at midnight too! But my night was lacking that yummy looking cake. ;) Happy 2011 girl!
Happy New Year!!! Your getting up so early is pretty impressive! I was in bed pretty much the moment the clock struck twelve, and getting up at nine was a challenge for me!
I spent my night with my best friends from high school, gossiping, eating chocolate dipped fruit, and drinking real champagne.
Happy New Year!
Dark chocolate raspberry is my favorite combo!
I went to dinner with a my family & few family friends then came home to watch the ball drop. Pretty low key, but I had great company ;)
The cake looks wonderful and sounds like a nice New Years. Happy New Year's Day!
We had a relaxing evening of movie watching and a little bubbly.
Those bowl of oats look delicious!
What's your cooking process?
Looks like a perfect night. We went to a party at a friend's place. It was a lot of fun! I don't usually stay up so late, though....
Excited for a night in with dinner and a movie on the couch!
Sounds like a nice new years to me! That cake looks amazing!
And your photo of your oats looks really good, taste wise and quality wise. :)
Aw, what a perfect night! I totally prefer small gatherings with the ones I love to big blowouts. I actually tend to get really claustrophobic so ragers aren't really my thing ;)
p.s. what's your oats secret, girl?!?! Those look so creamy and perf!
I was hoping for an awesome party in downtown DC... but wound up just hanging out with some good friends!
@ anonymous and @ Jenny: I use Kath's method! http://www.katheats.com/?p=2173
