Warp Speed

Gonna rush through today’s eats at warp speed- I’ve got a five-page paper calling my name!!

Breakfast: 1 c raw oats, sliced banana, frozen strawberries and a sea of chocolate almond milk. Raw oats are almost as good as cooked ones!

Workout: I gave the stairmill a go, as per Lauren and Naomi's advice!! It definitely got my heart rate going, but I think I need a little more practice before I can watch TV+step at the same time :) I did 20 minutes on the stairmill at level 10, followed by 20 minutes on the elliptical at level 5.

Lunch: salad beast with romaine, tomato, cucumber, pickles carrots, hummus and a pita.

With a Gala apple + a chocolate peanut butter Larabar.

Afternoon snack: peanut flour paste (1/4 c flour, drizzle of honey + sprinkle of cinnamon) with banana slices.

Dinner: broccoli with hot sauce and a sweet potato with heated apple, maple syrup, sesame almonds and cinnamon.

Without a doubt the food highlight of my otherwise unremarkable day. Sweet but totally healthy, and it warmed me to the core.

It’s super easy to make, too! I just poked a few holes in the potato with a fork, wrapped it in a paper towel and microwaved it for three minutes. I chopped an apple and heated that for two minutes, mixed it with a drizzle of maple syrup and cinnamon, plus a few almonds, and mashed it into the tater. Heavenly.

Dessert: frozen grapes + dark chocolate.

And last but not least, tonight’s study treat. Candy cane Tootsie Roll pops? They practically launched themselves off the shelf and into my basket at Duane Reade this afternoon.

Paper time…blech. Hope your evening is more fun than mine!

What’s your favorite holiday candy? Peppermint bark is mine, but at $26 for a tin at Williams-Sonoma, I can make my own J I also think that any candy wrapped in holiday colors tastes way better!

Candy canes, but the fruity ones! NOT the minty ones.

tootsie pops are one of my fave things!! cherry or red flavors tho :) I also love blo-pops. The gum loses it's flavor in about 3 secs though.

Good luck w/ the paper tonite :)

I tried frozen grapes yesterday, holy yum; I didn't realize they would taste so good!

As a kid, I used to love getting a candy cane shaped tube filled with red and green M&M's in my stocking. I don't really have a favorite holiday candy these days but love anything covered in dark chocolate. :)

Right now I'm loving the Reece's Peanut Butter Cup Christmas trees! They're just like the egg, they taste different than a regular Reece's. I do still enjoy an old fashioned candy cane during the holidays though.

Candy cane tootsie pops sound brilliant. You can definitely make your own peppermint bark! I've been making this chocolate peppermint cookie bark from the Washington Post for many Christmases:

Good luck on the paper!

That's such a creative dinner! I love dinners that satisfy a sweet tooth like that. ;)

My favourite holiday candy are those Terry's chocolate oranges. I'm not sure if they're a holiday candy per se, but I always get one in my stocking, so I associate them with Christmas.
