Don Giovanni

This evening, I met up with my friend Amanda for an early dinner. Gracie introduced the two of us when she visited a few weeks ago, so it was fun to chat with someone new!

We went to Don Giovanni, an Italian restaurant in Chelsea.

The interior was cozy and fun- lots of old-school pictures on the walls!

I was excited for some thin-crust brick oven pizza, but out waitress informed us that they weren’t serving pizza until later in the evening. Fail.

Shouldn’t a restaurant known for its pizza serve it all day?

Though I was disappointed by the lack of pie, my meal was still pretty darn good. I started with the house salad, which was surprisingly big and full of fresh veggies!

For my entrée, I chose the vegetable primavera: a combination of mushrooms, broccoli, green beans, zucchini, carrots and peppers in red sauce.

I was a bit apprehensive about ordering just veggies at first, but this was delicious and filling. By the time my plate was clean, I was perfectly satisfied but not at all stuffed.

Oh, and I’m incredibly proud of myself for eating all the mushrooms. Granted, they were smothered in flavorful homemade sauce, but they didn’t gross me out one bit!

Amanda and I stayed at the restaurant for an hour and a half chatting. We have a lot in common- she actually went to college near where I grew up!

In lieu of a sugar-bomb restaurant dessert, I had a few squares of dark chocolate and an unpictured spoonful of peanut butter when I got home. Perfection.

Homework time! Have a great night J

Have you ever been bummed out by a restaurant’s “time” rules? I know several of my friends frequently lament the fact that you can’t get Egg McMuffins past 11…

Are there any foods you want to like, but just can’t seem to enjoy?

Ha! I used to hate the McDonalds rule! We only ever ate fast food when we were driving on vacation as a kid, but I always wanted a mcmuffin and it was like 2pm.

In general - I just hate when something is on the menu and they don't tell you they are out of it until you order...beer, entrees, whatever...I have the worst luck with that stuff! It's always "Oh, I'm sorry we don't have any more..."

I'm digging the decor! What a cute place! Italian sounds amazing, and that dark chocolate looks even more amazing. Brussel sprouts are something I've tried multiple times but I just can't stand them!

I never have time to explore fun restaurants in the city during the school week. Ugh, stupid school. I need to read one and a half novels before 9 am tomorrow, lol, not gonna happen.

This post really made me want some pizza! I have not had any in so long and there aren't really any good places up here, sadly. I am so disgusted by most of the foods that I don't like that I don't really want to like any of them; the thought of liking them makes me queasy -- I guess I'm kind of a love it or hate it girl.

Happy Tuesday night love!

Bummer about the pizza - but the veggie primavera looks perfect. It's a good excuse to go back soon, though, right?! I hate when restaurants have times...most commonly breakfast rules. If I want breakfast for lunch or dinner, why should the chef stop me?! I mean, I'm sure they still have eggs and toast, and it's probably quicker to cook than some pasta! haha
I really wish I liked plain chocolate!! Sometimes I have a craving for it, but most times I'm happier without it. I test myself, too - thinking I ought to like it - by putting it in stuff. It doesn't work like I plan it to, though, and end up just disliking it! haha (though chocolate milk & hot cocoa are winners)

That's a bummer about the pizza! When I was a kid and we were on road trips to the beach and stuff, I would get upset that they wouldn't offer happy meals until 11 at McDonalds!
Have a good night!

time rules stink! i think that if a restaurant puts certain times that they stop selling type sof food, just take it off the menu or have different menus for different times that they DO serve the foods!

that pasta primavera acutally sounds delicious I would totally order that!

Ugh! Epic fail with the pizza! The last time I went out for pizza, I went to the only place around me that has a gluten free, corn free pizza crust. I ordered, and then they told me there were out. I'm sorry, what? I'm pretty sure that slad didn't hold me out very long.

Fun Din Din date! :) boo to the later pizza time rule...that is so weird that a pizza restaurant would wait to serve their specialty!
I LOVE mushrooms...so so much. they are much better raw! Honestly I wish I liked peanut butter more, and chocolate more (you are going to hate me for saying that!)
I hope you have a great wednesday girlie!!

I really want to like Kale, because of it's health benefits...but I just can't. It tastes so bitter to me.

I've only recently started enjoying mushrooms...it's always been a texture issue with me! Glad you enjoyed them though, the dish looks great itself! I think now one of the only things I can't get into are raw peppers. Love 'em cooked, but absolutely abhor them raw!

ahh I hate time rules! they don't make any sense!

"Shouldn’t a restaurant known for its pizza serve it all day? "--YES!

And you have more meetups than anyone i know and I love it!! So happy you are out living your life, being with other amazing people, in the great place you live!

Foods i cant seem to enjoy...oh everything from green monsters to chia to goji berries to tons of oatmeal to pumpkin. I mean, it's all "fine". I dont dislike any of it, but I never seek it out. Basically "blogger food" and me...nah, not really that much of a fan. Just give me boring raw veggies and im happy :) And coffee!

Aww that's so disappointing about the pizza! You would think an Italian restaurant would serve pizza all day!

I hate it when I go to restaurants and something really catches my eye on the menu, but then I find out that they're already sold out of it!

I guess it's just an excuse to go back though, right? ;)
