Back to School

Back to school, back to school,
To prove to dad I’m not a fool,
Got my lunch packed up,
My boots tied tight,
I hope I don’t get in a fight.
Oh, back to school…

Such a great movie.

Yes, it was back to school for me this morning! I woke up early to get some speedwork in before class. After inhaling a banana, I headed to the gym for a tempo run on the treadmill.

  • Minutes 1-5 @ 6.0 mph, 0% incline
  • Minutes 5-10 @ 6.5 mph, 2% incline
  • Minutes 10-15 @ 7.0 mph, 2% incline
  • Minutes 15-18 @ 7.5 mph, 0% incline
  • Minutes 18-20 @ 8.0 mph, 0% incline
  • Minutes 20-25 @ 6.5 mph, 2% incline
  • Minutes 25-30 @ 6.0 mph, 0% incline
Overall, I covered 3.2 miles. The outdoor trail I run on is completely flat, so I need to work on my uphill endurance!

Breakfast was a bowl of Nature’s Path SmartBran with a frozen banana and almond milk.

Remember elementary school, when you’d wear your coolest winter clothes on the first day of school, even though it was ninety degrees out? In fourth grade, I recall rocking a pair of Limited Too embroidered flares, shiny blue faux-leather Sketchers and a long-sleeved t-shirt that said “Fly Girl” in bubble letters. With matching butterfly clips, of course.

I like to think I’ve improved:

Much more September-appropriate!

I had two classes this morning, and I love both of my professors. Chill, fun and smart, but not into BS. The best kind. It feels like a wonderful semester already!

My fridge is a little bare at the moment, so I decided to treat myself to a first-day-of-school lunch from a deli:

Vegan chicken salad pita pocket

Seaweed salad

Watermelon chunks + a pink lady apple

And my HLS swag bag sample of Barney Butter, sucked straight from the package. Like a grown-up freeze pop.

Plans for the afternoon include grocery shopping and homework. I might love my teachers, but I’ve definitely got some hard work cut out for me this semester! Have a great afternoon loves!

What was your most memorable back-to-school outfit?

Who have been your favorite teachers/professors? What made them so great?

Great run! hehe Love the Billy Madison reference AND the outfit!

Back to school outfit? Probably 7th grade - Limited 2 green/red/yellow kilt with sweatshirt, red knee socks and mary janes. oy. Do you remember the whole popularity with sweatshirts?! haha

The ones who make you think and write, rather that memorize and recite!

I have to admit that I am a little jealous that you got to go back to school this morning! I miss school... I know, who am I?

Ohh back to school. I start today too..just orientation stuff though! Classes start tomorrow, so I'm interested to meet my professors. I find the best professors are funny and easy going, but, like you said, don't put up with BS and still push you to succeed.

Gah, we have school uniform here!! Apart from 6th form, but I hardly remember my clothes then, I was a disaster zone!
My favourite teacher was the best cos he was young, funny, relaxed and HOT!

Love you first day of school outfit!!!

My most memorable first day outfit was some tapered jeans, a gap kids sweater, and a turtleneck. It was probably 70 degrees and I was sweating to death, but I had to wear my new school clothes! :)

My favorite teachers were always the ones who were really hard on you, but only because they believed in you!

Yes. It's that time of year. Back to school. I'm really excited for classes actually, it's really nice to get into a set schedule sometimes. Cute outfit, I love the skirt with the bright flats.

I remember my outfit on the first day of high school. It was this beige flowy skirt with sequins (?? haha) and a plain white tee shirt with a chunky necklace. And black flip flops. Not high fashion and not particularly exciting, haha, but I don't know why that sticks in my mind. And I once had the Limited Too flare jeans too... oh those were the days. I don't think Limited Too even still exists. My favorite teacher was my art history teacher in high school. I took graphics the following year just so I could have her again. She was really cool and just a very nice person. I also liked my physiology professor last year because she was so willing to help out and gave us the resources we needed to get the grade we wanted. Favorite college class so far, hands down.

I hope the rest of your afternoon is wonderful :)

hahaha i totally heard the billy mad tune on the radio on the way to work this morning! gave me a giggle because it made me think of snack pack!

hahahaha back to school outfits were HILARIOUS when we were kids. we used to get new sneaks every year and weren't allow to wear them until the first day and they would be so friggn white on the first day of school. they went perf with my stirup leggings and matching plaid shirt haha

I think I wore a Limited outfit in like 8th grade. It was a blue corduroy jumper with a mock turtleneck, short sleeve green striped shirt underneath. That's the only thing I remember being a first day of school outfit.

That's great you like your professors. The instructors make such a difference.

Such a cute outfit! Good run too! :D When I was training for the flying pig half, I had to do hills on the treadmill too because the flying pig has a pretty intense climb in it. I remember being on the treadmill and people looking at me like I was crazy! But the hill workouts helped soooooo much!

My most memorable back to school outfits were probably grades 6 through 9 where on the first day of school I always wore a jean miniskirt from abercrombie!

you look so cute! and your lunch looks amazing. I think it's good to treat yourself on the 1st day of school. :)

I remember thinking I was pretty cool when I ditched my backpack for the 1st day of 8th grade and bought a messenger bag with the one strap. HA.

Do you make your own seaweed salad??

I always hated how new my sneakers looked on the first day of school back in the day. We always had to go to several stores before finding the perfect new pair of kicks, but I wouldn't let them stay white for long!

The night before the first day of classes this year, my friends and I were reminiscing about how important that very first outfit used to be. Now that we're seniors, I couldn't even tell you what I ended up wearing. I know that I did try and make an effort while I still have the time to shower daily and wear make up. I am not looking forward to the day when I have 3 exams, 2 papers, and absolutely no time to look cute.

Super cute outfit! I love getting dressed up for class too. I can't believe you are just now back to school!! I've been in school since August 17 and I have two tests this week

You look great - I love your outfit.

I went to a private school so I never had a cute back to school outfit. I just tried to hike up my skirt and even that didn't go far. Literally.

My most memorable teacher was a crazy history teacher who allowed us to reenact the French Revolution. She was beyond obsessed and it totally rubbed off. I've taken so many history courses since, including French, Russian and even Ukrainian. I love history.

I love those Barney Butter packs, perfect on the go!!

Haha I love that movie too! "T-t-t-today junior!"

Loving your back to school outfit! I'm all about the t-shirt and miniskirt combo too! I actually don't remember any of my back-to-school outfits! I'm pretty sure I had some embarrassing outfits in there though. ;)

My most memorable teacher was my high school chem teacher. He made the funniest jokes and blew up different things by setting off firecrackers every Friday. His class was never boring.

What classes are you taking this year/semester?
