Technology woes

As much as I love technology and all the amazing people I’ve met as a result of it, sometimes I can’t help but think that life would be much less complicated without it.

Exhibit A: what happens when your airport card mysteriously stops working:

My Ethernet cord isn’t long enough to reach my desk, so I’ve made do with a pillow and stacked printers on the family room floor. Comfy.

This isn’t the first time it’s happened, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed everything can be sorted out with a trip to the genius bar this afternoon. At least it gives me an excuse to go shopping while I’m there!

I was craving cereal when I woke up this morning, so it was back to the usual breakfast!

Trader Joe’s High Fiber cereal, blueberries, banana and almond milk.

The morning was on the floor catching up on emails, comments and textbook ordering before hopping on the elliptical for an easy half hour. Sitting on hardwood for a few hours did not make my hips and back happy, so I followed it up with some stretching.

Lunch was Mexican inspired:

I made guacamole by mashing a large avocado with half a tomato and a spoonful of salsa, then enjoyed it with baby carrots and a Trader Joe’s habanero lime tortilla.

Plus a pink lady, Adora calcium disk and mini peanut butter cookie Larabar.

Off to the Apple store- have a great day loves!

How many forms of technology do you use daily? Laptop, phone, iPod, camera, TV, cardio machines at the gym- it’s intense!

What kind of computer do you have? How reliable has it been? I’ve had my MacBook Pro for over two years now, and the airport card it the only problem I’ve ever had with it.

I used to be the queen of breaking laptops...until I got my Sony Vaio and named her (a friend joking told me that if I named my computer it wouldn't break...lo and behold, Viola's been hanging in there pretty well!!!)

I'm actually about to buy a Macbook Pro because I have HAD IT with PCs/HP...my mom has a MB and I love using it and how easy it is- I guess all computers have their problems.
Let's see, daily technology use: Cell phone, laptop, microwave, ipod, television, hairdryer/straightener (sometimes), coffeemaker...haha i guess the list can go on forever!
Ahh and ugh i need to get to ordering textbooks too.

Hi! I found your blog through links from other people that attended the healthy living summit. It's great, and I think a lot of people can relate to your story of gradually finding a healthy relationship with food and exercise.

I'm really embarrassed trying to think of the technology I use daily...my cell phone, my ipod (also a runner), computer (work and home), equipment at the gym and my digital camera occasionally. I guess that's not that bad...I hope!

I totally know what you mean! I realize that my life relies way too much on technology! I always try and give it up for a few days just to give myself a break and live my life!

I know I complain about needing a technology detox often, but I honestly couldn't imagine life without the comfort that tehcnology provides. I mean... all it takes is for my computer to break or my internet go down and I'm at a loss for what to do... kind of sad really. The things I depend on most are my computer, laptop, iPhone, and camera. And I have the MacBook Pro as well, and loooove it. We recently just got an iMac desktop, and that's wonderful as well.

Hope you're having a great Hump Day, girlie!

I thought I could be all smug about how little technology I used but then I realized that I use same things you do. Ha.

I have a windows vista and I'm not a fan. It moves slower than an old lady in the dead of winter.

I depend on my Blackberry and MacBook Pro daily. I'd love to spend more time away from the computer, but my job revolves around it. I'd love to be able to use my computer only for photos, blogging, and emails someday.

I do use technology a lot! I just got a Blackberry and I'm in love.

I have a Macbook that was a hand-me-down, so it's several years old. The DVD drive stopped working (it just swallows discs and won't spit them back out) so I have to use an external drive, and that's annoying. And the battery only lasts about 20 minutes now. But it's definitely better than my old PC laptop that was super buggy and slow and I had to replace the hard drive after six months!

My macbook pro has been great. The screen was having some troubles, so I paid $300 (over warranty, unfortunately) and sent it to California and it has been great ever since.

I love technology way too much. I have a dell - I always have, it's a studio 15... i've heard macs are great, but all my work is done on a dell!

I'm on the computer and desk phone all day for work so my little white MacBook doesn't get as much love as it should. :( I also use a digital recorder, digital camera, cell phone, the elliptical and treadmill of course...But despite all that, I've definitely become less internet addicted since college.
Have a great day, girl!

Haha I'm always using my computer on the floor! Sometimes I just get sick of my desk and need a change of scenery. :P

I hope your computer gets fixed! I have an HP and it has been giving me some problems lately... but that may just be because it's 3 years old, which is apparently ancient by laptop standards.
