Day One

Well, I'm back from my first day!!

And I need to tell you all that I'm already dropping out. Culinary school? Meh, who needs it. I'm already a Top Chef.

Just kidding. Actually, I think this might be one of the most challenging things I've done in awhile- yes, I actually think it will take more effort than college courses. There will be a lot of responsibilities and new things to take care of, but I can already tell I'm going to learn a ton. I thought I was a pretty good cook already, but just looking at the curriculum I realized that I've got my work cut out for me.

Today we basically just went over orientation stuff in the morning, then had a sanitation lecture in the afternoon. My favorite part of the day was probably taking a tour of the place- I've never seen so much bulk food in my life. Jugs of tamari, buckets of tofu in water, giant plastic containers of chocolate chips and Rubbermaid tubs full of produce. During the sanitation lecture, the instructor also gave us some fun behind-the-scenes stories about working in the restaurant business, which was cool. I've always kind of wondered what goes on back there...

Anyway, the real work starts tomorrow! My apologies for the pictureless post. Once we start cooking I've been told we can take a few pictures of our finished products, so hopefully I'll be able to share some stuff with you guys at some point. It's going to be a crazy but exciting few months!

What was the last big change you made or new chapter you started? And what food would you be most excited to find in bulk? I'm telling you, this place probably has it...
