Cupcakes + James Franco = instant happiness.
Last night, Jillian and I decided that we needed a chill girls’ night. So, the two of us headed to a casual dinner at Cafetasia, an Asian restaurant near NYU’s campus.
Cafetasia has a surprisingly cool, trendy feel for somewhere so inexpensive! We got there just in time to make the early bird dinner special: an appetizer, entree and drink for just $10.
I chose a Diet Coke for my drink, but Jillian was adventurous and got the Thai iced tea. It was definitely tea-flavored, but with something else in it. Something…orange, apparently.
For my appetizer, I chose the mixed fruit salad: apple, mango and grapefruit atop lettuce with a tangy, spicy dressing.
Jillian got the spring rolls, which she had an interesting time trying to eat with chopsticks…
As an entree, I went with the shrimp red curry: shrimp, basil, pineapple, tomato pumpkin and roasted red chili in coconut broth.
I loved this dish! The pineapple and spicy coconut sauce made for a really interesting flavor combination.
Meanwhile, Jillian went with her favorite: chicken pad thai. They brought her a huge portion!
After dinner, we went back to Jillian’s apartment to feast on Crumbs cupcakes.
Her office had received a bunch of them, and she was the lucky one who got to take the leftovers home. I love her job. At first I was ladylike and cut myself small slices of all the flavors…
And then I just got mean. Off with their heads!
Clearly, I have a frosting addiction. No big. The cake had gotten a little stale, so it was all the more reason to neglect that and go straight for the good stuff. I discovered that the cookies ‘n’ cream is absolutely delicious, that the peanut butter cup isn’t as good as I’d expected, and that grasshopper still is and always will be my favorite flavor.
We spent the rest of the night chillin’ on the couch watching Tristan + Isolde. Anyone remember this movie?
James Franco is at his peak in this one. All brooding and sad and shirtless and in love. Almost as good as Leo in Romeo & Juliet. Not quite though.
Did you know he’s actually in grad school at NYU? Jillian was lucky enough to get his autograph once.
The heart means they’re deeply in love. Obviously
Who’s your biggest celebrity crush? I don’t think I need to answer this question.
