Look who’s here!!

Sorry for the lack of updates today, but Chelsey and I have been busy today! This morning I headed straight out to Laguardia in Queens to pick her up, and since then we’ve been going, going, going.

Our first stop was Quantum Leap, one of my favorite casual restaurants in the city. I’m glad that Chelsey and I share the same kindergarden lunchtime, because we were the first people there at 11:30.

For my meal, I got the Asian soba salad, which I’ve had a few times before: Chilled Japanese soba tossed with Asian veggies, with green seaweed, hiziki, marinated tofu, green & red cabbages in wasabishoyu sauce.

I didn’t realize that their gluten-free entrees were pretty sparse for my lunch date, but she really seemed to like her tofu and roasted vegetable salad:

After lunch, we headed uptown. Walking is the best way to see New York, and we definitely walked a lot.

First, we made a pit stop at Jamba Juice, where I got a protein berry workout smoothie.

Strawberries, banana, soy milk and soy protein powder. It was good but super thick, and difficult to sip through a straw.

The farmer’s market was out in Union Square, which was neat. It’s not always open and I feel like I have bad luck in catching it!

Next, we meandered up Broadway for about thirty blocks, until we hit Times Square. Normally I avoid this area like the plague, but it’s been ages since I actually looked around there, and I can see why people are so enamored with it. There’s definitely nowhere else that’s quite the same!

A pit stop was also made at the M&Ms store, where the smell of chocolate seriously made my mouth water.

I also wanted to buy all the pretty colored candies just for fun.

Once past Times Square, we kept walking all the way up to Central Park, where we found a spot to sit down for awhile before heading back via subway.

Three hours of walking is a tough on your feet. Speaking of my feet, I seem to be especially skilled at making them dirty.

Seriously, my ankles? They look like I’ve been playing in the gutter. I mean, I know everyone gets gross walking around here, but that level of dirt is just impressive.

Now, we’re just hanging out and snacking before going to my favorite restaurant for dinner tonight. Can’t wait for the peanut butter bomb…
