Summer Chili

Today for lunch, I was in the mood for something salty and spicy. I went through the pantry and came across a can of Amy's Kitchen medium-heat chili, and although it's over 80 degrees out right now, it sounded perfect.

This chili was really hearty with a nice kick to it. I heated it until it was warm, not hot, and added a few spoonfuls of cold salsa. It made it much more tolerable in this weather.

By the way, is it weird that I eat everything with ice cream spoons? Little spoons means I eat things slower. Always a good thing, considering I can usually down a meal in just a few minutes.

Along with my soup, I sliced up an apple and dipped it into the remains of a jumbo jar of plain ol' crunchy peanut butter. My dad loves this stuff, and while I go for the natural varieties most of the time, I still think that the kind with hydrogenated oil tastes delicious on a spoon.

There is nothing more satisfying than scraping the bottom of a peanut butter jar until it's completely clean. And then using your fingers to make sure no lick is left behind. What, you don't do that too?

Earlier this morning, I went to the gym for an easy workout: 30 minutes on the ArcTrainer, followed by some abs and stretching. I was thinking about doing laps in our pool, but my shoulders are crazy sore from yesterday's workout. Plus, I kind of hate swimming. I know it's great exercise, but I'm not a fan of being wet. Strange, I know. I do want to try some laps at some point this summer, though, just to see how it makes me feel. Did I ever mention that I used to be on the swim team as a kid? Yup...

I hear there are some really great sales going on at several stores right now. Today might bring a shopping trip. Oh, and there's a recipe I'm hoping to try out this afternoon- hopefully it works and I'll have something delicious lined up in tonight's post :)

Enjoy your Saturday!

What's your least favorite form of exercise? I love most kinds, but like I said, swimming is definitely not my thing. The same goes for most other water sports!
