This weekend’s FitBloggin’ conference was the third blogging conference I’ve attended. The experiences of the 2010 Healthy Living Summit, 2010 Foodbuzz Festival and the 2011 FitBloggin’ conference were all amazing in different ways, but I think that FitBloggin’ was the most educational of the three for me personally!

For a little background on the conference in general, FitBloggin’ brought together healthy-minded bloggers for a weekend of educational seminars, social events and fitness activities. There were several hundred attendees, including health bloggers, fitness bloggers, food bloggers, weight-loss bloggers, mommy bloggers, and yes, even male bloggers. It was a diverse group!

During the day, we chose between two or three offered sessions during each time block. Topics discussed ranged from social media to intuitive eating to blogging ethics. Each session that I attended was well-presented and educational, and I definitely learned a lot about both the technical aspect of blogging, as well as the health and fitness side of it. I left each session and social activity having learned something new, or made a new friend, or questioning what I thought about a certain topic.

Would I say that FitBloggin’ was worth the ticket, hotel and travel costs? Absolutely! I absolutely loved seeing some old blog friends, as well as meeting new ones. I can’t really explain how special it is to find a group of people that both supports you exactly as you are, and also challenges you to achieve your full potential. The blog world definitely has its flaws, but I still think that it’s one of the most amazing communities out there. Overall, it was just a fun and informative weekend- and it definitely reignited my passion for blogging!

Late this morning, I bid adieu to my #fitblog friends and drove home to my parents’ house in Philadelphia. My dad and I are leaving for a 6 day trip to London tomorrow night, so there’s a lot to get done today!
Before hitting the road, I ate a Greens+ 22 Days Chocolate Cherry Bliss bar from the conference and a banana as a light breakfast.
The bar was good- like a firmer, more textured Larabar. I tried a bite of Gracie’s peanut butter flavored bar yesterday though, and I definitely preferred that flavor to the cherry.
During the drive, I snacked on a ginger snap Larabar and a bag of salt and vinegar Popchips from my swag bag, and before I knew it I was home! I was excited to see this sweet face:
I missed my Miss Maggie! If I feel that way after only two days, heading back to the city in a few weeks is going to be tough…
My body was craving some fresh veggies, so I made myself a salad with romaine, tomatoes, carrots, seitan and hummus.
Which I had with a big bowl of grapes and two unpictured squares of milk chocolate while writing this.
Time to fit in a good workout- I’ve had three consecutive rest days and will have plenty more to come this coming week!! Unless you count walking between fish-and-chip stops as a workout ;)
Have you ever been to a blogging or other hobby conference? What was it like? Did you think it was a positive experience?
