Fitbloggin' Part Dos

Day 1, part II of Fitbloggin' continued today with a Sears-sponsored social hour!

Before the event officially began, my roommate Gracie and I headed down to the hotel bar for a drink.

I had a Sam Adams Summer and all the twigs from a glass of bar mix. When it comes to snack mixes, I get great satisfaction in digging out all of my favorite pieces. Straight for the carbs, of course!

Immediately following, we went up to the conference rooms for the "social"! It was basically just a time for blogger mingling, cocktails and light hors d'oeuvres. I caught up with some old and new blends, like Courtney, Anne, Gracie and Theodora.

While there, I had a few of the ahi tuna and mushroom tart appetizers they passed around (I know, mushrooms, who am I?), and got a Stella Artois with my drink ticket.

Though the social went until 9 PM, a group of us headed out early for dinner at Mo's, a typical seafood joint with an extensive menu of lobster, shrimp, scallops, fish, and apparently famous crab cakes.

I continued my beer streak, by ordering a local Clipper City Golden Ale to sip with my meal.

Since I'm far more of a beer drinker than a wine or cocktail person, I'm trying to make it a point to try local brews when I'm traveling. It's an easy way to experience a culinary aspect many people overlook! This one paired well with my entree- a huge seafood salad piled high with shrimp, scallops, and fresh crab meat:

I could honestly eat seafood every day and not get sick of it, so this was heavenly. Initially I didn't think I would finish it all, but give me a plate of shellfish and my stomach miraculously doubles in size. It's magic!

The funniest part of eating with other bloggers = the twenty cameras that come out the second food hits the table.

We may have scared some of the other patrons, including an equally large table of youngish males that mysteriously didn't approach us in spite of how cute we all looked ;)

When we got back to the hotel room, I had a baggie of dried cherries for a little something sweet, courtesy of my swag bag. So stoked for my head to hit the pillow tonight- it's gonna be a busy day tomorrow! See you in the AM.

What meal-food could you eat every day and never get sick of? Seafood is definitely my #1 "meal." I love all kinds- I just wish it wasn't so expensive!
