When it comes to packing for extended trips, I try to follow my mom's favorite piece of travel advice: pick a color palette with a dark base. That way, pieces are interchangeable and won't get dirty as quickly, either! For this trip to London, I went with black and light pink. I've laid out two skirt-and-tank combinations:
Five dresses (three black, two pink):
Four cardigans (two black, one gray and one white):
As well as a handful of belts and headbands to tie looks together.
I'm sticking with black and gold for accessories, right down to the shoes!
And of course, the basics: PJ's, a set of workout clothes (not sure I'll get a chance to exercise, but if so I'm prepared), socks and other stuff like that ;)
On the plane, I'll be wearing my bulkiest outfit: a t-shirt, yoga pants, a sweatshirt and sneakers. I may not look cute, but I need to wear comfy clothes or I won't get a wink of sleep on the 7 hour flight.
Also packed are a few emergency snacks: bars, nut butter squeeze packs, Vega protein powder and a box of plain instant oats. I'd rather try the local foods and enjoy restaurant meals than pack a ton of food, but I also want to be prepared with convenient and cheap options should hunger strike on the go. Let's not waste money that could go to a fancy tea service and expensive chocolate on overpriced fruit cups and pretzels, right?

For lunch today, I threw together another seitan salad. I tend to neglect the veggies while on vacation, so I wanted to get a hefty dose of 'em at my midday meal!
Romaine, carrots, tomato, a little more than half a package of Westsoy seitan chunks, Trader Joe's organic balsamic vinaigrette and a whole-wheat flour tortilla.
With an apple/date bar/almond combination for dessert. There were only a few almonds left in the bag, so I polished 'em off.
We're leaving for the airport around 7 tonight. Better get cracking on the rest of that packing!
