Awkward Turtle

Today's lunch contained three courses of sweetness!

Course #1 was a sandwich made with PB&Co. White Chocolate Wonderful peanut butter and Trader Joe's pumpkin butter (we've still got some from the winter!) on multigrain bread.

Course #2 was a massive bowl of fruit. Sliced strawberries, pineapple chunks, a diced apple and fresh blueberries.

Though the other parts of my lunch were certainly delicious, I think this was my favorite. Something about warm weather makes me crave copious amounts of fruit.

And for the grand finale, course #3 was one of yesterday's vegan chocolate peanut butter brownies.

After eating a few of them at room temperature, when the texture usually changes, I think it's safe to say that these are awesome. They're chocolatey and rich, but not overwhelmingly sweet. Win.

Backtracking to this morning, I hit up a BodyPump class at my parents' gym. I love BodyPump, and am looking forward to taking it while I'm home these next few weeks! Instead of trying to up my weights, I challenged myself to really concentrating on my form and engaging my muscles when lifting, instead of just zoning out.

While there, I saw the mother of an acquaintance from high school on the other side of the room, who I haven't seen since I was 16 or 17. It was one of those things where you're not sure if they recognize you, so you don't know if you should say hi. Is it just me, or are those kind of run-ins totally awkward? If you say hello and they don't know who you are, it's uncomfortable, and if they do recognize you and you don't say hi, then you feel rude. Neither of us ended up saying anything, and then as soon as I left I kicked myself for acting like a nine-year-old. I used to think those situations would become more natural as I got older, but nope- I think adults are just as plagued with awkward feelings in certain situations as little kids are. Or maybe I'm just an awkward turtle!!

What do you usually do in situations like the one I described above- say hi, or stay mum? What's the most awkward encounter you've ever had? In my teenage years, I thought just about every situation was awkward, but I've since learned that things are usually only as uncomfortable as you make them. However, that doesn't mean that genuinely awkward situations can't still crop up!
