Tenzan Sushi Lunch

Today for lunch, I met up with my friends Lauren and Dan at Tenzan, a sushi restaurant in Midtown East.

Me and Lauren
I've known these two since the ninth grade. There's something to be said about the people who knew you when you were annoying and awkward...and still like you anyways.

For my meal, I got the sashimi lunch, which came with a bowl of miso soup.

My favorite!

The sashimi plate consisted of yellowtail, red tuna, white tuna and salmon.

Every time I get sushi, I always forget which fish are my favorites. Making a mental note that white tuna tastes the best to me, followed by yellowtail, red tuna and salmon.

Lauren and Dan each got a three-roll maki special. Laur's plate contained cucumber-avocado, cucumber-shrimp, and a fried calamari roll with jalepenos. I sampled the avocado and calamari ones- loved the jalepeno in the calamari one!

She had actually never had sushi before, and I think this was a pretty delicious introduction :)

Dan ordered the Boston roll, spicy tuna roll and yellowtail and scallion roll.

Good stuff. I'm glad I got to see them- we always intend to hang out when Lauren is in town, but it rarely happens! Aren't they a sharp looking couple?

This morning before lunch, I attended a 45 minute spin class called CycleTherapy, which totally kicked my butt. The music was actually spun by a live DJ- how cool is that? The instructor really encouraged us to concentrate on how our bodies felt during the workout, which made me work a bit harder than usual. At the end, I was the sweatiest I've ever been after a class. It was awesome!

Time to accomplish some serious paper-writing before my plans this evening. Hope you're having a lovely day!

Do you like sushi? What's your typical order?
