Little Good Things

Today was full of little good things.

For starters, just look at what I found at the grocery store this afternoon!

Total hoarding, but in my defense this stuff has become more and more scarce since Christmas. My grocery store in the city has stopped carrying it entirely! What if I crave a pumpkin smoothie in July? Girl Scout's motto: Be prepared. Plus, they don't expire until 2013 :)

My errands also took me to the hairdresser for a much-needed trim and highlight job.

Before (excuse my dirty, cowlicked hair):

After:

I've always liked my hair long and blonde, but it had gotten a little extreme on both ends. A trim and some lowlights fixed things up!

Little good thing #3 was my smoothie snack.

Today's sandwich was so delicious that it inspired me to recreate it in liquid form:
 - blueberries
 - large and in charge spoonful of coconut-peanut butter
 - scoop of hemp protein
 - hemp milk

Tasty!

Dinner was almost as delicious, though it was lacking in coconut-peanut butter.

Initially I was planning on using my spiralizer to make some zucchini noodles, but unfortunately that gadget has been lost in the black hole that is our basement. Instead, I used a vegetable peeler to cut a large zucchini into strips.

Mixed with a chopped tomato, Trader Joe's meatless meatballs and a creamy sauce made by combining two parts Rao's eggplant marinara sauce with one part Sabra sun-dried tomato hummus.

Melissa tipped my off to this combination, and I'm not sure that I'll ever go back to plain marinara again. It was amazing- definitely a very good little thing. Two slices of sprouted bread were also consumed.

To satisfy my post-dinner sweet tooth, I dug into a huge bowl of sliced fresh strawberries, which I later topped with cocoa powder.

And a handful each of pistachios and Marcona almonds (lots of itty-bitty good things!).

Times several. My parents share my nut addiction and we all crowd around the jar when one of us breaks it out. And then we all say that we need to stop eating them as we take another handful.

Now I'm relaxing with another little good thing- Where The Heart Is. So strange to see Natalie Portman at 17...and pregnant, no less! Hope you're all having a great Friday!

What's one little good thing happened to you today?
