Date with Mom and Dad

This evening, my parents and I went to dinner at Seasons 52, a seasonally-inspired restaurant that offers a menu of healthy yet delicious dishes. Both my mom and I had been there before, but it was my dad's first time trying it out. I knew he'd like it!

I was craving something warm and comforting, so I ordered English Breakfast tea as my drink. It was a bit unconventional with dinner, but exactly what I wanted.

To start, we split the ripe plum tomato flatbread, with fresh basil, roasted garlic and melted parmesan cheese.

The slices were thin and crispy, just the way I like my pizza. I liked how light it was, too- perfect for an appetizer.

My parents also got arugula salad with truffle dressing, portobellos and parmesan cheese, which I passed on because of the mushrooms.

For my meal, I ordered my usual: the farmer's market vegetable plate, a smorgasbord of deliciously prepared veggies!

There was a roasted bosc pear, butternut squash and cranberry-almond tabbouleh,

Mushrooms, asparagus, red peppers, carrots, red onion and broccoli,

And a piece of grilled tofu topped with salsa.

I demolished everything but the mushrooms, of course! Meanwhile, my dad got the special of venison chops, served with sweet potato puree and roasted vegetables:

And my mom rolled with the cedar plank roasted salmon, which came with asparagus, carrots and red potatoes.

No complaints here! My dish was delicious, and my parents really seemed to enjoy theirs as well.

When the tray of signature mini-indulgences came around, I passed in favor of fruit and nuts when I got home, but my parents split a shot glass of the mocha macchiato cake. Almost too pretty to eat!

On the way home from dinner, we made a quick stop at Trader Joe's. I restocked my supply of several staples, and also got a few new-to-me items to try this week, including whole-wheat pizza dough. I wonder how I'll be at tossing it in the air...?

Heading to bed early tonight. The time change is a killer! Goodnight!
