Raw

Tonight, I had a sushi date at Raw in Philadelphia with my close friend Mikey.

We've been friends since high school and have always bonded over our shared love of Japanese food. It's become somewhat of a tradition between us to try new sushi restaurants!

As usual, we started with a dish of salted edamame. The portion was huge. I like.

My entree came with a bowl of miso soup:

And for my meal, I ordered the vegetarian sushi platter.

An 8 piece veggie roll,

A 6 piece cucumber roll,

And three pieces of inari sushi: cooked tofu skin stretched over white rice.

The inari was my favorite- it was slightly sweet and absolutely delicious with a dip of salty-spicy wasabi tamari sauce.

I've never been one to stay in close contact with friends when I'm far from them; spending hours texting and talking just isn't how I roll. But I think that in a way that's how I've discovered who my truest friends are. They're the people that I can go for weeks without talking to, but once we sit down together again it's like no time at all has passed, and everything goes back to normal. People don't need to be an every day presence in your life to make a huge impact. Mikey is definitely one of those friends that I only see sporadically, but we never run out of things to talk about when we do see each other. It was a fun to catch up :)

I'm headed to bed! This weekend is all about catching up on sleep. Goodnight, everyone!
