I had quite the fun Saturday night!

Mike’s mom and younger brother were in the city last night, so I met up with them for dinner at Josie’s Restaurant in Murray Hill.

I got there a bit early and scoped out the place. It was simple and low-key.

To start, Mike ordered the ginger-grilled calamari, with golden pineapple and red pepper salsa on a bed of arugula.

I tried a few rings and they were delicious- not too chewy with a definite ginger taste. I loved the addition of pineapple, too!

As my entree, I went with the veggie plate deluxe: wok-sauteed greens over roasted winter squash, grilled vegetables, roasted beets and organic tamari brown rice.

Holy bok choy! There was a huge portion of the greens over about a third of a roasted kabocha squash. Basically a veggie lover’s dream.

I also liked the roasted asparagus, carrot, zucchini, fennel and beets.

The rice was pretty good as well, but as I’ve said before, I’m just not much of a rice person.

For dessert, Mike’s mom and I split the vegan warm three-berry ginger pie, with walnut oat crumb topping, multigrain crust, and vanilla soy ice cream.

The walnut oat crumble was without a doubt my favorite part, especially when dipped into the ice cream.

It was a great meal- I’m glad I got to try yet another new place!
