Things Babies Born in 2011 Will Never Know

Twitter can be a time-consuming addiction, but I have to say that always manages to draw my attention to some interesting stuff!!

This morning, Jenny tweeted a Yahoo! finance article entitled "Things Babies Born in 2011 Will Never Know."Included in the list?
  -  Movie rental stores
  -  Paper maps
  -  Forgotten friends
  -  Hand-written letters
  -  Talking to one person at a time

And it's so true! While some improvements are absolutely awesome (you never have to deal with a movie being rented out at Blockbuster, scratches on CDs or calling your mom from a pay phone), not all things need improving. It's weird to think that in ten years land lines will probably obsolete- remember the days when you had to memorize all your friends' house numbers, and politely ask to speak with them when their parents would pick up?

What do you think the best inventions of the last ten years have been? The worst?

* * *

Since I have a serious case of the sniffles right now and I'm feeling just a tad under the weather physically, I kept dinner nice and simple with a bowl of Trader Joe's lentil vegetable soup.

Doctored up with a sliced tomato, a few baby carrots and some salsa, this was delicious- thick, filling and flavorful. I had a slice of dry toast on the side.

I also had the ubiquitous apple + chocolate dessert:

And a few slivers of the raw chocolate cake I made on Christmas. We'd completely forgotten about it in our spare fridge!

Later, I made a batch of Mama Pea's sugar cookie dough balls for a party I'm going to tomorrow night.

The dough was irresistible, but I tried to keep it to a few fingerfuls. Learning to master my sugar habit is a New Year's resolution, remember?

Off to read in bed. 'Night!
