We got there an hour before closing time and it was FREEZING out, so we spent a lot of time wandering through the monstrous conservatory. It was full of gorgeous (and ginormous) trees:
And little itty-bitty ones....these bonsais date back to 1909, and they're only about two feet tall!!
There was also a beautiful vintage perfume bottle display. My mom has about twenty bottles from this collection- I had no idea they were collector's items.
The 1050 acre outdoor gardens were decorated with millions of sparkly, colorful lights:
As well as a seriously impressive toy train display.
A four or five year old boy was gawking at them when we stopped by, squealing about the "choochoos". Cutest. Thing. Ever.

Afterwards, we headed back to my house to exchange gifts. Wrapped alongside my real gift, Mike included the new flavor Larabars he remembered me hunting for over the summer:

As I have always said about you and your family: CLASS ACTS!!! I am not surprised that Mrs. La Mer (your mama) has those type of perfume bottles. my grandma collected bottles and it wasnt until i was older that i realized, either!

Christmas traditions = get together with my entire family (and Suave Slav) for dinner, gift-exchanges, and quality time.
That chocolate is one of my favorites; I buy it whenever I can.
ah, what a great tradition! those trees are absolutely gorgeous!!! I really love the bonsai trees though; well, i suppose my dad would love them (he's the president of a bonsai society and probably has over 100 trees!!!)

I LOVE going to Longwood Gardens during Christmas time! It's so pretty there! I just love the history behind the entire place. It's so beautiful!
My family always goes to a movie on Christmas after dinner. It's our little "tradition" :)

I love Longwood Gardens at Christmastime. That's where my husband proposed! It was FREEZING out but so so pretty and romantic.
My family always used to see some kind of a show. We've seen "A Christmas Story" "Annie," The Rockettes and so on. Last night we went to a garden too :)
I love Longwood Gardens! I used to do musical theatre there in the summers, and we'd get a free pass :-) I don't think I've ever been for Christmas, though!

My mom is Polish, so she usually cooks the traditional New Year's Eve meal before we go to church, but earlier that day, my dad takes off work and we all go to a nice restaurant for lunch.
Longwood Gardens looks really cool! Right up my alley actually. One of my favorite Christmas activities is driving around looking at lights and decorations in the neighborhood where I grew up. I think we're going to look tonight or tomorrow. Probably tomorrow because it's 80 degrees here today! Not too Christmassy.

What a great date! And cute gifts - I love little traditions. My boyfriend and I always hand make each other's cards.
I love to go light cruising! We all pile in the car and drive through the best neighborhoods and houses for lights. We also always decorate christmas cookies together- it's the best!
