1. Drink more water. I actually did well on this one- I've been making it a point to drink three 20 ounce water bottles before, during and after my workout.
2. Learn to use my DSLR better. Need to do this. It kind of fell through the cracks amidst all the holiday craziness, but I purchased a Canon Rebel book and it's time to get cracking!
3. Experiment with two new non-dessert recipes per week. Fail. Unless you count all the cooking for Christmas, when I prepared six in one day.
4. Try two new fitness classes. Pass!! I've fallen in love with BodyPump and rekindled my interest in spinning- the second isn't exactly new, but it had been awhile since I did it.
5. Be more patient with others. Fifty-fifty. I've been less stressed, which means I'm more patient in general, but that's a goal I'm constantly working on improving.
* * *
This morning, I started my day off with a bowl of Uncle Sam + banana + almond milk.
Then, I headed to a 45 minute spin class at my gym. I've found myself really loving my workouts lately! While I always enjoy exercise, these days I truly look forward to going to the gym. I think I was in a bit of an exercise rut before, and group classes were just what I needed to get myself really pumped up again. It was an awesome class, and I stayed for instructor-led pushups, planks and crunches afterwards. Feel the burn!
Since yesterday's lunch was so delicious, I made a nearly exact replica for today's midday meal.
Salad beast with romaine, tomatoes, cukes, carrots, onions and hummus
Sandwich thin with almond butter
Orange slices
And a small handful of sesame peanuts.
Did you have any December goals? How did they turn out? Do you plan on setting New Year's resolutions?

Ohh - those sesame peanuts look like those little easter egg malt candies...only sesame-y. haha They look really good!
Though I didn't have any explicit December goals - one of them was to stay sane throughout the end of the semester and do well! Both of which I accomplished (though maybe my family members might dispute the "sane" one haha).
Well done on acheiving most of your December goals! I didn't make any, but have been building them up for the big resolutions for the New Year!
Btw I love how your breakfast is in a cup! So cute! :)
It sounds like you did great on your goals!! I need to start thinking about mine for the year ahead... :-)
I don't normally make monthly goals, but I plan on making a big one for the new year: figure out what I want to do and where I want to be. It's kind of important since I graduate in 10 weeks!
congrats lady! that is awesome - i love the two new fitness classes. i may need to steal that one to implement sometime soon :)
Excellent job on your goals this month Gabriela! And I would certainly count the Christmas cooking towards #3 ; )
I am still working on my resolutions list. I want to make sure they are good ones!
Sounds like you did pretty well to me ;)
Great job on your goals! I love workout classes too. Unfortunately I had to give up my gym membership when I moved out and my new gym doesn't hvae them. BOOO.
I love what you said about loving exercise. I've been feeling the same way lately. After the half marathon when my training plan came to a halt, I started mixing up my cardio and it's been awesome. I contemplate joining a gym again for the classes - I'd love to take spin again. It's been years!
i love how you set yourself monthly goals- thats a habit i want to get myself into! I def want to work on my patience too.. I have the wort patience in the world
those peanuts look PAINTED haha!
my main goal was to get to know myself better.... i definitely did that :)
Good work on your goals! My constant goal is to be less stressed, and I think this was the first Christmas season where I felt slightly more at easy! Baby steps...
I think it's great that you have monthly goals. I think I'd feel too pressured. The camera has not been that hard to learn. I got it a few weeks ago, read the manual, Ashley's notes over and over, and took a lesson at the Apple store about camera/computer and I think I get it. Always tweaking, practicing, etc. but it is not so scary anymore!
I just posted my New Yrs Intentions yesterday. Glad you recapped your Dec. Yes, I just got my dslr and what a beast...going to play with it today and by the end of the year 2073 i should have it figured out :)
glad you're loving the fitness classes and patience...well, that's a lifelong journey for me so 50/50 is great!
Its so good you accomplished some of your goals!!
I have a list now started.. haha.
I plan on EATING more. and gradually start to work out again, without over doing it.. . :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVE
ack, I'm scared to look back at my December goals. I'm slightly embarassed by how many of them I didn't complete. I especially need to get on my Rebel game!! let me know if you uncover any tricks of the trader :)
tricks of the trade**** clearly i have trader joes on the brain, per usual ;)
great job on the december goals! i think group classes are a great way to mix up your exercise! awesome!
Great goals, I didn't set any for December but I probably should have for 2, 4 and 5. I have a Canon book too and it's huge! :-P
Great eats, the sesame peanuts look addicting.
I'd say you did pretty well on your goals this month considering how hectic December is! That's awesome that you've found some new fun classes to attend!
I'm looking forward to setting some goals for 2011 and working towards them. :D
I love the look of those sesame peanuts. Where do you buy them? Or do you make them yourself?
I did not really set yearly goals, just mini goals throughout the year. And I did alright ;) I was doing really well with increase in water till about 2 months ago and I have failed bad :( haha
Trying to get back into it.
