This evening, I met Jillian at my favorite place for dinner: Quantum Leap!
Well, Candle 79 is my favorite favorite place, but since a meal at QL is about ¼ the cost, it’s a pretty good replacement J
I ordered the “Macro Platter,” which came with a garden salad with carrot-ginger vinaigrette to start.
The main attraction: steamed veggies (broccoli, celery, cauliflower, carrots, squash and kale), lentils, brown rice and hiziki with mushroom gravy.
While it was good, it definitely wasn’t a patch on Jillian’s quesedilla.
I stole some of her corn chips and tofu sour cream in lieu of my boring brown rice.
For dessert, we split the chocolate tofu pie.
The oaty crust was my favorite part- it tasted like a hearty oatmeal cookie!

After dinner, I ventured out in search of a foodie swap item for Foodbuzz. I initially bought a jar of local PB&J at Dean and Deluca, but realized that I can’t carry on two huge jars of liquid!
Instead, I hit up MarieBelle, an adorable chocolate shop in Soho.
My mouth started watering as soon as I walked in.
The decor and packaging was gorgeous- very Marie Antoinette. I'd love to decorate a room in this style one day!
Luckily, there were a few samples to try while I browsed.
I almost bought a few of these adorable New York pin-up themed chocolate bars, but held back when I realized they were $16 a pop.
Good chocolate ain’t cheap, but it that’s just crazy talk!
Instead, I picked up four small fruit-infused chocolate bars. I’ll post a picture later- the lighting in my apartment just doesn’t do the pretty packaging justice!

that chocolate shop is GORGEOUS. I envy you for being in NY, especially during the holiday season...you have no idea. I want to come out there NOW.

I feel like I'd pay 5 or so dollars for a chocolate bar, but I'm not that big on chocolate. I definitely pay more for meals ,I think (like at a nice restaurant) rather than desserty things.
The most expensive chocolate I've ever bought is probably Endangered Species chocolate at about $4.00 a bar! I'm easy to please when it comes to chocolate, I guess. ;)
I do, however, pay more than average for certain organic foods/produce!
That store looks like SO much fun. Definitely right up my alley...and stores like that are one of the reasons I love NYC oh so much.

I paid $9 for a chocolate bar (I bought it before realizing how much it cost). It was dark chocolate with cacao nibs and sea salt. Delicious? Yes. Worth $9? No.
$16, that IS crazy talk!! I saw some bacon chocolate that I was curious about at the store the other day (yea, weird, I know) and a mini bar was $4 and I thought that was steep haha... guess I just set my "chocolate boundaries"?!?! :)
Oh m yword , I really need a slice of that tofu pie. I'm going to go look up a recipe for a similar quick fix!

I love buying in bulk; that lets me get a little of everything without breaking the bank, but, I have paid $8 for a chocolate bar (granted, it was at the airport, but I was really needing it, haha).
I'm dying to try Quantum Leap! Sounds sooo good.
I think the most expensive chocolate bar I bought was by Vosges on the Upper East Side.
What an adorable chocolate shop! I have paid a ridiculous amount of money for some truffles at an airport. I believe they were $25 per pound!

I hesitate to pay even $1.50 for a chocolate bar. I love food, but my frugality always kick in and remind me that I can't afford it! Darn it!

That is the cutest chocolate shop! But dang, that chocolate better be infused with gold flakes in order for them to charge that much! I think the most I've ever paid for chocolate is $4-5.
Ashlee and I just made our first pit stop at the grandparents house on the way to the foodbuzz festival. We are very excited. We look forward to meeting you in San Fransisco!!! Look us up!! Oh by the way we packed homemade jams and butters that we made for the gift exchange.

I have been to Quantum Leap twice and wasn't amazed by the food, maybe I should give them another shot! I definitely pay crazy amounts of money for goodies, so I've tried to scale back, but I am an impulse buyer and can't help it sometimes!
