Indian-Cupcake Baby

This weekend, my friend Cassie from high school is visiting!

Cassie, Jillian and I have been friends since the sixth grade, so with Jillian and I both at NYU, she’s getting a two-for-one deal this weekend J

Senior prom!!
I actually learned last night that Cassie randomly stumbled across my blog while looking at other cooking blogs. Funny, right?

After picking Cassie up in midtown, the three of us decided on Indian for dinner. We went to Baluchi’s in Soho. (I forgot my camera card, so these are taken with the Crackberry!)

To start, they brought us papad (lentil chips) with three dipping sauces.

Though I couldn’t tell you what was in it, I loved the yellowish one- I actually ate the remnants with a spoon. No shame.

As my entrée, I ordered extra-spicy baigan bharta (an eggplant dish). I know Gina would approve!

Cassie and Jillian got the vegetable curry and the chicken makhani.

There was also plenty of rice and naan to go around.

Is it just me, or is there always leftover rice? We barely made a dent in our two bowls!

I ended up eating my entire portion of bharta, three pieces of naan, a little bit of rice an a few bites of Cassie’s vegetable curry. Stuffed to the brim with Indian food babies, we decided to make room for Crumbs cupcakes.

The Grasshopper- rich chocolate cake filled with chocolate fudge and topped with mint flavored cream cheese frosting with chocolate cake crumbs, edged in mini chocolate chips with a vanilla buttercream rosette.

Which is really just a fancy way of saying the best cupcake ever.

Afterwards, we ended up going to the Bronx for the evening. It was a great time, though rather chilly- I guess fall is really here!

Hope you all have a great Saturday!

Do you like Indian food? What’s your favorite dish to order?

I love Indian Food! I try to change it up each time because I don't get it often. We have a great local place but I can only go with friends because Hunni doesn't like it.

But heck they give me the student discount :-)

Hi!
I'm a relatively new reader and absolutely love your blog! I can absolutely relate to the ED thinking and trying to move past it in efforts to live a happy and healthy life with a good relationship with food. :) Thank you for being such a great blog to turn to when I'm feeling out of sorts!

As for Indian food, my absolute favorite is channa masala, followed by lentil dal, they are just SO good! Especially with naan, which I could also eat endless amounts of :)

I've actually never had Indian food! I want to try making channa masala sometime though. I love anything with chick peas!

I'm glad you had fun with your friends! That's too funny that she randomly stumbled across your blog! I sometimes wonder if that'll ever happen to me, since I haven't really told any of my real life friends about my blog.

I actually just started eating Indian food, and to say I'm becoming slightly obsessed would be an understatement. It's so flavorful and just downright DELISH!

That actually happened to me with a friend who was looking for kale chip recipes and I had lost touch with her and she found me that way!

Indian food...no for me b/c the smell of curry, garlic, onions, all of those flavors just are too much for me. I want to love it, but dont.

the cupcake..omg that looks off the charts good!

have fun w/ your friends!!!!!!!!
