Describe Your Perfect Date!

My date this afternoon may not have been quite as perfect as April 25, but it was pretty dang good! Mike and I met up in Union Square to do some grocery shopping at Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. Pumpkin butter, cereal, two kinds of hummus and a boy to carry your groceries? What’s not to love?

Before leaving my apartment, I snacked on honeycrisp slices and frozen green grapes.

When I got home, I started dinner with a little tortilla + hummus appetizer.

While I dipped and munched, I prepped a monstrous salad beast.

Atop a completely hidden bed of spinach, I put:

Three roma tomatoes,

Four carrots,

A whole cucumber,

Two crumbled Dr. Praeger’s California veggie burgers and a huge scoop of hummus.

Shaken up until each piece of veggie was coated in hummus goodness, this made for one delicious and filling beast.

I also had a pink grapefruit for Vitamin C.

And, of course, a stick of Trader Joe’s dark chocolate.

Mike and I both agreed on how we don’t know the meaning of “portion control” when it comes to chocolate. Who would want to? I'm a bit surprised that I've only had one...but the night is still young.

Time to buckle down and bust out paper #2 of the week!

Describe your perfect date. Whether it’s a calendar day or a romantic rendezvous is up to you.

Have you made any new grocery store finds recently?

Your night is my idea of a perfect date - I've had it a couple times and it's been lovely!

I picked up a lindt 85% dark chocolate bar yesterday and completely fell in love. In fact, I think my perfect date involves me and Mr. Dark Chocolate and will be happening tonight.

my perfect date was the second one my boyfriend took me on. on our first, he asked me what i thought would be a good date to go on, and silly me just thought he was asking to ask what i liked. little did i know he was actually planning out what i had described to him.... a picnic in the park! it was so cute :)

My perfect date is smeared with peanut butter or stuffed with a cashew.
Aha...sorry. I couldn't resist.
That salad beast is making me miss salads!! For some reason, they are just so summer/hot weather to me...and I don't have a big salad as often in the cooler months!

UHM
My perfect date would be staying in, watching a movie while cuddling on the couch, and maybe drinking a glass of wine or two, while eating a delicious meal that we made together!!

Wow sounds like a fun date girl! I really don't know what my perfect date is.. I would say it's all about WHO you're with rather than what you do.

Wow, that really is a huge salad beast!! I think my perfect date would be a movie (preferably something funny or a classic if any are playing) and then a walk after so that we'd get to talk.

I've had a perfect date :)
My partner took me to Banff for a weekend, where we got to hike up mountains, go white water rafting, admire deer (and a bear!) in the wild, and cuddle each other in front of a fire place every night. It was perfection :)

Uhh I didn't have a single veggie today and seeing your salad makes me feel malnourished :) JK I'll be hitting up the veg tomorrow--excited!

wow you and mike are destined for a long term future if HE suggests going grocery shopping..on a date. wow. Impressed. In 12 yrs Scott has never suggested that and doesnt even know what I buy. Oh well :)

Perfect date = a beach, drinks, back massages and foot massages, no one's butt needing to be wiped.

loved your comment to me that food blogs have helped reign in your groc store spending. roma vs vine ripe, paying attn to prices, amen!!!

oh and frozen grapes...about 12-18 mos ago i went thru a 6 mo spurt of seriously eating about 100 frozen grapes a day...oh yeah, i was living in AZ. It was 115F+ daily. Ugh. Havent had them lately :)

Having hunky men carry groceries is always a great thing:)

I'm so sorry but I just realized that I've been invited somewhere Saturday and Monday nights over Halloween weekend, and you're probably busy Halloween night, but if there's ever another time you want to meet-up let me know! If you do feel like grabbing a bite on Halloween night, however, I will be around.

Actually, I just realized I am actually available that Saturday night as well. Let me know if any of those days work for you and if there is somewhere you'd rather go than Candle 79:)

Last year my then-boyfriend drove us out to the middle of a cornfield on a perfectly clear night. We laid out in his truck bed and star-gazed and talked for hours. He brought coffee and blankets and everything. This *would* be my perfect date, had it been with the right guy. [We only dated for a month!] Still, star-gazing is pretty romantic if you ask me. I hope to do it again some day with the love of my life. :]

Any boy willing to grocery shop with you AND carry your groceries is definitely a keeper. ;)

I think my perfect date would involve a hike and picnic! Or maybe an afternoon of sailing...

I love Miss Congeniality. Such a funny movie.

As always, your dinosaur salad looks amazing. And I really like that your perfect date includes grocery shopping. Twice. Haha!

The perfect date is getting all dressed up and going into the city for a really nice dinner followed by dancing. :) I am a hopeless romantic.

I've said it before but I love going to the grocery store with Billy and selecting all of our favorite foods and a bottle of wine and having a picnic. Weather permitting! Otherwise, I love going out for sushi.

Girl, don't even get this hopeless romantic started on her perfect date :P haha!!

I go back and forth between two options. One is a day spent at the amusement park because...well, amusement parks are one of my favorite places! The other is a traditional dinner out - preferably in the city. I'm not a huge fan of restaurants that are *too* fancy though, because it can made the conversation kind of awkward. Sushi followed by a walk in Central Park sounds just about perfect :D

Miss Congeniality!!! So much love for that movie, and for that scene in particular.

Your beast looks amazing, ps. Can I come over for dinner please?

My perfect date... I'm kind of a hopeless romantic (sensing a trend in your comments.) I am lucky enough that I've had my perfect date a number of times! It's when Arc and I make dinner together, then spend the evening walking on Daytona's boardwalk until it gets pretty dark. Walking the beach at night and playing cheesey old-school arcade games at the beachfront are two of our favorite things to do.
