Sweet Tooth Revenge

There’s nothing more comforting on a rainy evening than dinner and dessert with one of your oldest friends.

Senior year of high school. Oh man.
Jillian and I have known each other since the sixth grade, and I’m amazed that she put up with me back then. I would have strangled myself with all the Titanic and Harry Potter talk. There was also an obsession with the movie A Knight’s Tale that wasn’t as cool before Heath Ledger was such a heartthrob.

We met up at Cosi, where I ordered my usual: a hummus and veggie sandwich on white bread with a side of carrots.

Best. Bread. Ever.

Midway through dinner, I announced that I was craving a cupcake. Jillian was too. We’re soulmates.

We headed to Crumbs, where I ordered their peanut butter cup flavor.

It was as good as it looked….well, the frosting was! I also ate about half of the frosting from Jillian’s grasshopper cupcake.

On the heels of last night’s chocolate pyramid, all that sugar was a bit much. (especially considering I also ate two chocolate Attune bars as a snack this afternoon). I’ve felt crappy and slightly sick these past few hours, which has served as a valid reminder to stop eating sugar simply because it’s there. I have a massive sweet tooth, and while I’m happy to satiate it every day, three servings of buttercream on a random Thursday night falls more into the “stomachache” category than into the “treat” one.

After dinner, I headed to Whole Foods to stock up on whole foods J I loaded my basket with produce, whole grains, tempeh, dark chocolate and a few seasonal Clif bar flavors!

I can’t wait to microwave the pumpkin pie flavor. It’s the only way to eat them!

Tonight is going to be an early one for sure. Happy almost Friday loves!

What were your childhood obsessions?

Who is your oldest friend?

Ahhh they used to sell those seasonal Clifs at school and I literally had a limited supply with my food points. I don't know if I can pay for them with real money now :)

I LOVE cliff bars. I ate two yesterday!! Hah. I've never tried the seasonal flavors, but microwaving the pumpkin pie sounds amazing! I'm going to try that ASAP :)

Have a great night!

random random. and i think i know the answer. BUT...what are your thoughts and feelings on PB before bedtime?? (bedtime, I sound like a 4 year old) I just mixed some in with my yogurt mess, and while it was delicious, i feel like it's really heavy to have before bed. Thoughts??

In reply to the above comment, I find PB before bed is the only way I make it until breakfast the next morning!

I was obsessed with Mary Kate & Ashley and the Babysitter's Club. There, I said it.

Your dinner looks fab - and I've never seen those Clif Bar flavors before! Cranberry Orange Nut Bread is screaming my name, though. That's my favorite part of fall and winter!
Childhood obsession? Man...I can't even remember! One thing I do remember loving, though, were those sugary cereals! I'd go through phases - but I know cocoa puffs, kix, apple jacks, fruit loops, and lucky charms were all well loved ;)

I know how you feel about sweets. Some days I feel like they just sink in my stomach and my tummy is not so happy with me. I need to realize when I really really want them and when I can do without. It's hard to resist a cupcake that looks like THAT though!

Ahhh - seasonal Clifs! Weee! My oldest friend...I've had since birth - although we are not besties or anything but it's nice to know that there is someone out there who really, truly has known me that long outside of my fam. I've known my best friend since high school, so that's...what 7 years now? Oy. OLD. haha

Hi! I've been reading for a while - just wanted to say I love your blog! All of your food looks amazing. :D Also I wanted to ask, are you using Hal Higdon's half-marathon training plan? Because that's what I'm using too! I thought the half-marathon in my town was in October, so I started the plan WEEKS ago...then I realized it's not until December!! So I'm going to finish this plan and then start a different one. I should be plenty ready! Have a great day. :)

We MUST go to Whole Foods again when I come visit! I need those Clifs - holy heck those flavors look amazing!! I'm thinking I'll save some room in my suitcase specifically for BARS.

Also - I hope your sweet tooth is still intact because I think I need to try Magnolia's...just because I'm an equal opportunity cupcake eater ;) hahaha

Haha, sadly I look back on my sixth grade self & wonder how my friends ever put up with me as well...I was really into Hanson back then. I know, I'm cool.

I really want to try that sammie from Cosi, every time I see it on your blog is just makes me crave hummus! Have a great weekend girl :)

Fun! Love meeting up with old friends. That cupcake looks amazing! My childhood obsessions ranged from Troop Beverly Hills & the Cutting Edge to Full House and Saved by the Bell.

My oldest friend is probably Megan or Erin or Ashley - still close with them all, have seen each other get married, am now 28, met them all when I was 6.

I need to get to Cosi! That sandwich always looks so good on your blog! Of course the Crumbs cupcake looks even better!

It sounds like a great evening with an old friend. Those are hard to beat. I found my way here via the Foodbuzz Project Food Blog competition. I've been browsing through your earlier posts and must tell you I enjoy the food you feature here. I'm curious to see what your entry for the next leg of the competition will be. I'll be back that's for sure. I hope you are having a great day. Good luck and blessings...Mary

@anonymous I eat a few spoonfuls of nut butter pretty much every night!! nighttime is when i'm snackiest, so it really helps fill me up and keep me satiated all night. nothing worse than waking up at 3 am hungry!! i think if you're hungry for it, then there's no need to feel guilty!

@jordan yes, I'm using hal higdon's plan! i'm making quite a few modifications, but it's the basis of my training :)
