The cardinal rule of dinner party cooking is that you’re never supposed to use a new-to-you recipe. So, since I’m throwing a dinner party for some friends in a few weeks, I saw that as an opportunity to bake a cake- never mind the fact that I’ve actually already made it before. I used this [...]

Apparently it’s slacker week on Une Vie Saine. All of the “recipes” I’ve posted have been basically childproof. Infused vinegar? Melted chocolate and graham crackers? And now, rice? Pay attention, though. Though this rice is ridiculously simple to make, it’s by far my favorite way to eat the stuff. You see, I don’t really care [...]

Yuengling + fig & goat cheese pizza (At Uno’s, of all places. Who knew?) + fries + a giant peanut butter cup sundae*, all shared with one of my best and oldest friends. It’s the best Valentine’s date I’ve ever had. Romance is overrated. *Cookie crust bottom, peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough filling, dark chocolate [...]

I feel like I’m finally getting the hand of dressing nicely every day. I went from having my mom dress me every day in elementary school, to wearing a uniform every day in middle and high school, to wearing jeans or yoga pants and sweatshirts every day in college, to actually having to look polished [...]

In case you didn’t already know, it’s Valentine’s Day! I’m really not a huge fan of this holiday. It’s a nice idea, but in execution I think it’s kind of silly. I’m not single and bitter about it, either; even when I’ve had a boyfriend, all the hoopla just kind of sets you up for disappointment. [...]

Everyone knows that there’s something about restaurant salads that are just better. I’m not sure what it is, but no matter how healthy the menu description makes something out to be, the deliciousness of a fancy purchased salad makes me suspicious. Do they butter the lettuce? Inject the tomatoes with sugar? (Well, depending on the [...]

Do you keep your ezekiel bread in the fridge? I keep all my natural breads in the fridge and they last a very long time! You could make bread pudding, french toast, whole-grain bread crumbs, courtons for salads!
I do love puppy chow. Yum. Sounds perfect. When our bread is going stale or if I have some bread butts that need using, I do one of the following:-Make croutons (cut in cubes, toss in oil, S&P and cook til toasty in a pan or the oven-Cut into cubes to further dry and make stuffing (I love Thanksgiving stuffing just baked in dish)-Cut into cubes to dry and then drop in a food processor for homemade bread crumbs
Mmm…puppy chow! I keep my Ezekiel bread in the freezer, actually, but you could make croutons with it to throw on salads!
That puppy chow stuff can be addicting. I haven't had it since working but I remember it being pretty tasty.
Ohh puppy chow. That stuff is like crack. I like how you keep your roasted veggies separate, it's cute.I just let bread stale out and then crumble it up and use it like breadcrumbs in a kick-ass lentil loaf.

Ditto on the breadcrumbs and/or bread pudding. Or go feed some ducks
You should absolutely make croutons – look up how to flavor them! So tasty:)
are we twins? bc I had roasted eggplant for dinner and endangered species chocolate for dee-ssert. Could you make vegan french toast? (I know you don't groove on the huevos!)
You're right… I should be in NYC so we could go out! I want to go out too
Love love love puppy chow but it's SO addicting!!!

my mom usually makes dumplings out of staleish bread! I also hear its the best way to make french toast, as it absorbs the eggwash better. or, what about toasting it and making homemade croutons with seasoning and spices?yumm.btw the "puppy chow" looks delish!
plans for weekend? homework and shopping (hopefully)! I need some new shirts so badly
Your cookies look perfect…what's your trick for getting them so uniform?!I love making homemade breadcrumbs with stale bread, or strata or french toast. Breadcrumbs are sort of a sporadic occurrence for me – but it always just so happens that if I've got some eggplant I've got some stale bread, which lends to eggplant parm pretty well!
Puppy chow should seriousl be illegal. SO GOOD. And I wish I had access to an oven at college to I could bake those supercharge me cookies again! I might have to ask some of my lucky apartment-living friends
Crotons? And those veggies look delicious. Aaaand… you are quite the champ for being able to stop with th epuppy chow!
aside from toast, i use stale bread for french toast because the eggs soggy it back up and sometimes i throw it in the oven and totally dry it out and then crumble it up to use as bread crumbs or slice it for homemade croutons. i'd say go to google for some more answers, google knows all!
Make French toast! I've never had puppy chow but I think I just might have to! Hope you have a good night.
I LOVE puppy chow, it is seriously one of my favorite desserts/snack/meals
You could try making french toast with the stale bread.
You could make bread crumbs with the bread. Or toast them in the oven and make some croutons perhaps! No big plans – just heading to Charlotte to hang with the BF
Your dinner looks spectacular! Yummy

french toast! you're actually supposed to use stale bread for french toast!
Puppy chow, oh gosh. I made it last year to give to all my roommates the first time we all met, and they instantly loved me. I feel like that was cheating somehow. Also, I second the suggestions to make french toast.
ive been making and posting about puppy chow for 6 mos or so…SO good, isn't it! Omg, it's addictive! I love that stuff!! Glad you're on the wagon and your cookies, omg they look like a professional bakery! you need a day job in cookie making…WOW!! impressive
stale bread, broil or bake til done for croutons. drizzle with evoo, spices, salt and pepper, cut them up or tear, bake, done.

Croutons? French toast? Panzanella salad?? all would be fab with stale bread!! That puppy chow looks amazing – as do the cookiessss!
As others have mentioned – use the bread to make French toast or bread pudding! Maybe experiment with making a "bread pudding for one" dessert…? (I'm all about the single-serving desserts, haha).Oh, and Puppy Chow is THEE best! I love the stuff. It could totally count as breakfast with some added milk and sliced banana
Yumm I love puppy chow. It's by far the easiest recipe ever. I love making it when I just need something quick! That plate of roasted vegetables looks great
So colorful too! Have a good weekend!
I've never heard of puppy chow, but holy cow it sounds good! Melted chocolate and nut butter is amazing together!
Last night I went to a BBQ and then out to the bars and today I'm going shopping with a friend. The rest of my weekend is up in the air!
Make french toast with it! Or maybe some croutons. Or stale bread makes a really good soup topper with melted cheese.
French toast, of course! Even the thought of french toast is enough to make my mouth water.
Hopefully seeing Nanny McPhee this evening avec mon petit ami. He is too sweet
Your cookies look fantastic!
I went to the Feast of San Gennaro last night! You should definitely go, it was a lot of fun and the desserts were incredible
Looks awesome
I love roasted veggies. And thanks for the recipe!

Make french toasts. Or savory bread puddings. Or bake it into croutons for salads and soups.
I've been dying to try puppy chow. I can't think of better ingredients together. If i made it though… it wouldn't last very long
Hope you'r e having a great weekend love!!
puppy chow is something that once I start, I can't stop! So good.
