The cardinal rule of dinner party cooking is that you’re never supposed to use a new-to-you recipe. So, since I’m throwing a dinner party for some friends in a few weeks, I saw that as an opportunity to bake a cake- never mind the fact that I’ve actually already made it before. I used this [...]

Apparently it’s slacker week on Une Vie Saine. All of the “recipes” I’ve posted have been basically childproof. Infused vinegar? Melted chocolate and graham crackers? And now, rice? Pay attention, though. Though this rice is ridiculously simple to make, it’s by far my favorite way to eat the stuff. You see, I don’t really care [...]

Yuengling + fig & goat cheese pizza (At Uno’s, of all places. Who knew?) + fries + a giant peanut butter cup sundae*, all shared with one of my best and oldest friends. It’s the best Valentine’s date I’ve ever had. Romance is overrated. *Cookie crust bottom, peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough filling, dark chocolate [...]

I feel like I’m finally getting the hand of dressing nicely every day. I went from having my mom dress me every day in elementary school, to wearing a uniform every day in middle and high school, to wearing jeans or yoga pants and sweatshirts every day in college, to actually having to look polished [...]

In case you didn’t already know, it’s Valentine’s Day! I’m really not a huge fan of this holiday. It’s a nice idea, but in execution I think it’s kind of silly. I’m not single and bitter about it, either; even when I’ve had a boyfriend, all the hoopla just kind of sets you up for disappointment. [...]

Everyone knows that there’s something about restaurant salads that are just better. I’m not sure what it is, but no matter how healthy the menu description makes something out to be, the deliciousness of a fancy purchased salad makes me suspicious. Do they butter the lettuce? Inject the tomatoes with sugar? (Well, depending on the [...]

Once again, love the chic outfit!I've eaten nut butter on EVERYTHING – love it on brussels sprouts, beets, any vegetable, haha.
I don't think Nakd bars are sold in the US. I looked after reading Freya's blog. That's so awesome that they have a store!
Woah totally didn't know it was a store/cafe. I always look at those flavors longingly in stores hoping they'll make some almond butter products. If my room weren't so messy I would photograph my outfits….oh and if I didn't wear soffee shorts and t-shirts all day
Minor detail.

I like the outfit pics. I also love your brick wall!
Looove the sandwiches – and I would totally try the pregnant lady!! and probbbs like it!
The other sandwich sounds divine, too!!
How dare you corrupt peanut butter with pickles?! hahaha…you and your pickles
I would totally get the sandwich that Jillian had – it sounds right up my alley! I have been getting more gutsy with nut butter lately, though, mostly by topping veggies with it!Outfit pix: YES!
I love your outfit! Not so much the idea of peanut butter and pickles. I'm sure it's one of those things you need to taste to get, but it sounds kinda strange to me.

this is coming from somebody that mixes nut butter and an egg every morning for breakfast, but i cant imagine any way that eating a nut butter could possibly be weird! last night, the boyfriend and i warmed up a bit of pb with agave and earth balance and used it as a coating for popcorn. best movie night ever!
holy smokes, i know what i'm putting in my sandwich tomorrow! you are adorable – so YES to the fit pics… i need inspiration.
I vote YES on outfit pics!! Your style is too cute not to share! BUT you have to promise to start sharing where we can find it if it's current season!!! For example, that dress is super cute, fingers crossed it's still available?
love the sounds of that sandwich – i think i may have to try PB and pickles! i used to put PB on chicken breast when i was marathon training and really tracking my carb/protein/fat ratios! it wasn't bad!:)you're so lucky to have access to a PB & Co restaurant! enjoy!!
I'm pregnant right now and that sounds amazing! Very cute picture of you in your school day outfit, keep them coming!
Will you come to MN and be my stylist please? K, thanks!I would die and go to heaven at that little gem of a restaurant! Swoon.
your outfit is so cute! love it. and please – don't remind me that soon we'll be buried underneath layers and layers of warm clothes to fight the winter chill!hmmm…peanut butter and pickles, huh? i commend you…i don't think i'd be that brave
i do think there's something about weird combos that just happen to work, though. the hard part is convincing people of that! haha. I don't think I've ever had nut butter in any really bizarre way…i think the weirdest i've gotten is with carrots!

oh man, ive eaten so much nut butter in so many different ways! haha the weirdest..hmm. probably in a sandwich.ive had pb & maple syrup sandwiches, pb & applesauce sandwiches (not reccomended. weird bc I love both pb and applsesauce, but the bread just got all soggy).oh! once I had a pb and crushed peanut butter filled pretzel sandwich! now THAT was tasty!im hesistant to try the "pregnant Lady"- although I did enjoy "the Elvis" (sans bacon)and I love your outfit pics!! pretty dress
I love PB and Co! I have gone there a few times. I am much more of sweet pb girl than savory. I eat nut butter with any and everything. I really like it with stir-fries — I once had it in a mighty maple jar!
Reading your posts is getting me excited to get back into the college lifestyle! My classes start 2 weeks from today
Anyways, I love the name of the sammie you got. The weirdest/most pathetic way I've ever eaten nut butter was in the Whole Foods parking lot. I had done a long run that day and was STARVING but living in my house up at college and naturally I had NO food. So I went to Whole Foods and got white chocolate wonderful and got in the car and was just eating spoonfuls of it. I finished that jar in a matter of days! Lol

Love the outfit! In college I'd try and look cute for maybe the first month, then once midterms began, it was sweats and uggs for the rest of the semester.
I love your outfit pics! And now I'm craving peanut butter. And chocolate. Ha. Hazards of reading food blog I suppose.
Im not going to lie, that's one odd sounding sandwich. I put PB on everything though so I wouldn't be opposed to trying it
LOVE the outfit pics – have been thinking about incorporating a few into my blog as well!

I say Yes to the outfit pics – it mixes things up nicely!I love that there is an actual cafe for Peanut Butter & Co. I definitely have to check it out on my next NYC trip!
when i was pregnant, I could hardly eat. I puked. all day. 10x a day for 6 mos. I would have puked just SEEING that sandwich. Lol. I am impressed you got it down. Preg or not, pickles and nut butter are 2 foods that for me could never be mixed! omg, no. You are a brave foodie, I love it!Strangest nut butter combo for me? Gosh i am not that exotic, in sauces, in bread and sweet recipes, in muffins, on crackers, in medjool dates, in dessert raw vegan balls i make, i mean i am creative but not exotic/weird with my nuttah buttah's.

The website is naturalbalancefoods.co.uk if you wanted to check…:) Or I can send you a whole bunch more! Email me if you want more
Yes to the outfit pics! You always look so cute!
I don't know what to think of the PB & pickles combo! I usually like to eat my nut butters with sweet dishes. Except I like to make stir fry sauces with Sunbutter. I don't know if that's weird or not?
hahahaha the pregnant lady is a hilarious name for that sandwhich! i think you're superrr brave for ordering that and i love that they threw some carrot sticks on the side. i'm seriously in love with carrots and pb but i know that's not weird..YES outfit pics are so fun
I LOVE PB&CO. The maple is the best! I'm so sad that we don't have one of the cafes in Memphis!
Were the pickles sweet or sour?
I like outfit pics! Hmm.. I can't really think of my weird nut butter eats. but they exist! Welcome back to school… I don't envy you!

LOVE the outfit! I was I was brave enough to wear something so stylin to class. I don't think I've ever worn a dress outside of a club or formal setting. Boo!
I wish we had a pb&co place in Canada soooo badly. I'd be all over that pickle+pb. Though I think realistically they should just make a sample platter with mini finger sandwiches of all their different sandwich combos. Cause there is no way I would be able to decide on just one to eat. I don't think I really do overly weird pb combos. Weirdest is maybe dipping zucchini or carrots right in but come on, that's commonplace now!
I've always wanted to try out that restaurant! All of the menu items look so interesting and strange but definitely want to try it! I've gotta say, I think the pickles and peanut butter sandwich may be one of the weirdest combos I've ever heard of, haha! Glad you liked it though
I am totally with you on J. Crew. It is my all-time favorite store. We found a J. Crew Distribution Center here in NC where everything was MASSIVELY marked down, and I almost cried because I was so happy. Yes, I am a J. Crew addict and dork.
My brother lives in NYC and I love that place. Love the desserts and I usually stick to the cinnamon raison swirl sandwich—vanilla cream cheese, apple slices, and cinn raison pb!

Wah, super jealous! One day I'll visit that glorious place, haha. The weirdest combo I've had was brussel sprouts and pb…not bad, but not something I'd eat again. But sweet potatoes and pb? Delicious!
okay i'm intrigued. my husband thinks it sounds gross but i wanna try (and no i'm definitely not preggers)

Oh, wow. I am such a fan of peanut butter and pickles I can hardly believe my eyes with that sandwich. However, my fave way to do the pick and pee-bee is with real, fresh half-sour pickles. The kind that are bright green and really crisp and more like cucumbers? You should try it…much bett-ah. ~Missy
