Bachelorettes and Flying Pigs

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve all had a fantastic weekend! Mine has been pretty packed since I left you guys on Friday evening. Get ready for the usual Sunday monster post J

Saturday morning’s breakfast was a bowl of Trader Joe’s High Fiber O’s and fresh raspberries with almond milk.

Afterwards, I went on a 5 mile run in the beautiful weather and finished up my workout with plenty of stretching. After cleaning up, I snacked on an apple while packing my bag for the bachelorette party.

Before leaving, I whipped up a green monster for the drive. This baby contained 1.5 c almond milk, 2 c spinach, 1 c blueberries, 2T chia seeds, 2T flax seeds, a large frozen banana, a tablespoon of almond butter and a scoop of Sun Warrior vanilla protein powder. Beastly.

I swung by my friend Maggie’s house to pick her up, and soon we were headed to the Jersey shore! We stopped at Wawa for gas along the way, where I got some fruit, veg and pillow mints to snack on.

Once we’d arrived, I snacked on a bowl of Kashi GoLean, some chocolate chips and a few peanut butter fingers before beaching it for a few hours. That evening, we headed to Atlantic City for the bachelorette shenanigans!

Maggie and I pre-party

For dinner, I’d made a reservation at The Continental, located in Cesar’s Palace. (I resisted the urge to ask the concierge whether Cesar actually lived there…name that movie!)

Bridesmaids and the bride (Cammy) in the casino

The Continental turned out to be a great choice for our group, with a tapas-style menu that included lots of fun drinks and plenty of vegetarian options.

Maggie and I shared the hummus plate, which we annihilated within minutes. It was lusciously creamy with the perfect amount of spice, and the pita was warm and fluffy.

Since most of the group dishes we ordered were meat-based, I decided to get my own vegetarian entrée: the fattoush salad, with tomatoes, cucumbers, red peppers, radishes, red onion, pita chips and lemon vinaigrette. It was a HUGE family-style portion, but I ate all of the veggies and about half the pita chips!

Plenty of pictures were taken:

The whole group

We bar hopped for awhile after dinner, and Maggie and I eventually left the group when they headed to a club. (Boo not being 21!) We came home and snacked on Newman’s O’s dipped in Nutella (absolutely unhealthy, and absolutely delicious) before crashing.

This morning I had an incredibly boring bowl of Fiber One with soy milk before hitting the road.

Maggie and I made another Wawa stop for coffee and apple slices on the way home:

This afternoon, my family had plans to take a hike and go to dinner together. I threw together a quick snackish lunch before leaving for the state park.

TJ’s habanero lime tortilla with PB&Co. The Heat is On, carrots and apple slices

The four of us walked for about an hour and a half in the 95 degree heat. It was sweltering, but beautiful!

Afterwards, the four of us went to a super early dinner at my dad’s favorite pub, The Flying Pig.

We started off by sharing a bruschetta appetizer. I only had one slice- it was tasty, but not what I expected. My dad joked that it was authentic “bar” bruschetta, drenched in butter and smothered in cheese!

For my entrée, I chose a salad with romaine, walnuts, roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, croutons and vinaigrette. This light main course left plenty of room for lots of yummy French fries drenched in ketchup!

Since we were too full of fries for dessert, I waited until I got home to dig in to a huge bowl of strawberries and some Lindt chili dark chocolate. I had two more squares of the chocolate- it’s so good!

Though the weekend was fun, I’m pooped! I’m babysitting tomorrow from 6:45 AM into the afternoon, so tonight will definitely be an early one. Hope you all have a relaxing evening and a great start to your week!

How do you feel about tapas or family style restaurants? Do you like to try lots of dishes, or do you prefer having your own entrée?

Have you ever been to a bachelorette/bachelor party? How was it?

Oh goodness, I was SO closed to you since I was in Cape May!!

I am LOVING your dress. You look hot!

And I love tapas. I don't necessarily like sharing, but I like having lots of my own things. :)

First of all, you look GORGEOUS! I'm loving your dress!

Secondly, I'm loving the Wawa eats :D No surprise there, haha!

I do love family-style restaurants and tapas because it means more variety. But at the same time, sometimes I like having a single meal all to myself! The problem with family-style/tapas is that you have to try to snap photos before everyone else digs in!

Looks like you had a fab weekend :) Enjoy your night, darling! xoxo

WOW - such amazing pics, Gabs!
It definetely looks like you´ve had a great time this weekend - having fun with your friends at the bachelorette party, having dinner with your family...
:D
Oh, and by the way - loved the new layout! Your blog looks incredible, seriously :)
I´m having quite a rough time right now... But I guess it´s just part of it. Recovery. You know... it´s been hard. Dad used to be the one to complain, but now Mom is getting really upset too, so... Yeah.
But I really am so happy for you. I can tell you´re having an amazing summer already!
I miss you, love.
Wish you a wonderful week!
Kisses from your "name-twin",
G.

I guess I'm not the biggest tapas fan. I think it's because I'm not a snacker, and I prefer having a single portion of food rather than assembling a meal from a variety of random bites, licks, and tastes.

Looks like you had a great weekend. You are gorgeous, girl!

That GM sounds intense, I love it! And you look absolutely beautiful in that black dress! I've never been to a bachelorette party but it sounds like so much fun. And as much as a love tapas, I kind of prefer having my own entree! Oh and I really want to try Newman's O's dipped in nutella now :)

"Atlantic City for the bachelorette shenanigans!" = omg you are freakin hot girl!

yes i have been to plenty of batch parties. They always end up drunk, in strip clubs and with massive amts of blackmail pictures and crazy antics. Trust me girl, i have stories to beat the band!

you all look so young! I cant believe someone is geting married yet you cant drink yet. There is something ironic about that!

Anyway honey, glad you had a blasty weekend!

i have never been to a bachelorette party, but i really want to!! although turning 21 first might make things easier for going out.

Oh man...love The Hangover...too funny!

You look great in that dress lady! The eats look great too...good choices when out!

I do love tapas but only if they have lots of veg options! Otherwise I stick with my own like you did at the fam-style restaurant!

That looks like a fun bachelorette party! Boo that you couldn't stay, though!
I have never had tapas before, but from your description I would be willing to try it. They sound tasty.
I have been to bachelorette parties before, but since I am usually friends with the bachelor, I end up leaving early and crashing the bachelor party - great times! I always end up having more fun with the guys.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

I LOVE sharing meals when I go out with friends or family. I am pretty indecisive, so it's great to be able to share with other people and get the best of many worlds. I guess I can see why people would want their own food, but I love digging in family style. I'm sure that was evident at the meet up we had at the sri lankan restaurant! I've never been to a bachleorette party, but the one you attended looked like a lot of fun!

Girl your dress is GORG and you look fabulous in it! :) Sounds like a sweet day; I have def. never been to a bachelorette party. I have only ever been to cousin's weddings, my friends are all too young really. I would love to have an Adventure for my own one day...like white water rafting or trail running or something. I guess I'm just weird. But we already knew that, lol.

Have a great Monday my dear!

There are so many wonderful things happening in this post! I'm more of a single entree kind of girl, but I definitely get why people would want to sample a ton of delicious options.

I love family style restaurants. I love families. :-)

I have been to a few bachelorette parties. The wildest one was in Vegas, and it was very fun. My own was really fun, too - not as wild, but every bit as memorable.

Looks like a great weekend! I love your black dress!

My bachelorette party was pretty low-key-- we all went to Austin to hang out for the weekend. We got massages and drank lots of wine...perfect :-)

Your dress is beautiful! Bahcelorette parties are always a blasty! I've never been to one that was super wild though. I think my friends must be pretty reserved.

You always look so stunning, girl, and it's great to hear that you had an awesome weekend :) I love having a packed weekend once in a while, but it always leaves me pooped as well. Hope you got enough rest and that the kids didn't wear you out too much ;)

I've only been to one bachelorette party before and it was pretty crazy and semi-cheesy. Like male-stripper cheesy lol. Definitely something I'll never forget though...

A bachelorette party sounds like so much fun! I've never been to one but maybe I will soon since I have two friends who are engaged! You looked awesome, btw. I love your dress! :)

I'm not really a big fan of tapas style restaurants. I'm not really a snacker, so I prefer just having one full meal.
